Job Description

The Bi-College Arabic language program at Bryn Mawr College invites applications for a full-time, one-year Drill Instructor position for the 2026-2027 academic year to begin September 1, 2026. Renewal of the position is possible pending a successful review of teaching evaluations and program staffing needs. The successful candidate will teach the three weekly drill sections for Introductory Arabic and Second Year Arabic, respectively, at both Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges. The content of the drill sections reinforces the Modern Standard Arabic syllabus and curriculum planned and taught by the master class instructor, who delivers the lectures. The drill instructor will assist the master class instructor in teaching one of the weekly drill days in accordance with the syllabus and under the supervision of the master class instructor. The drill instructor may teach an additional class to advanced students in the Spring semester. In addition to their teaching responsibilities, the drill instructor will actively participate in program activities including but not limited to the weekly language table, film screenings and other extra-curricular activities, and the Bi-College academic fairs. Candidates must have an M.A or higher in Arabic language or a closely related discipline by the start date and be fluent in Modern Standard Arabic and English. Candidates should have 2 to 5 years of successful teaching experience at the college level.
