Position Type: Part Time
Salary Range: $19.35 - $23.41 Hourly

The YMCA of Orange County is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are actively seeking highly engaged, intentional, and service-oriented individuals for Aquatics Program Lead positions.
This role is an opportunity to play a key part in inspiring members and staff of all ages by delivering supportive, engaging aquatics experiences that build confidence in and out of the water. This position will look to foster genuine connections, practice exceptional hospitality, and create a safe, positive, and enriching environment where every interaction is meaningful. As an Aquatics Program Lead, you will help advance our mission by promoting water safety, healthy activity, and a welcoming environment for all members.
Location: Yorba Linda. During the Spring and Summer season, you may be scheduled to work at one or more of the following three sites: Yorba Linda High School, Yorba Linda Adventure Playground, or Heritage Oaks Private School.
Work Schedule: This position is seasonal and part-time. Leads will be expected to start in March, and the role will go through October. Below is the anticipated work schedule for Lead positions.
- Spring Schedule:
- - Monday – Thursday 4:00pm - 8:00pm
- Summer Schedule:
- - Monday – Thursday 10:45am - 5:00pm; Friday shifts as needed
Purpose and Impact:
- Model Leadership:
- - Welcome and support swimmers and families, ensuring every interaction reflects the Y’s values and inclusive spirit. Guide and support aquatics staff, uphold YMCA standards, and help create a team culture where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported.
- Prioritize Safety:
- - Maintain safety standards, assist with safety drills, and help keep the pool environment compliant and ready for participants.
- Strengthen Community Connections:
- - Build relationships with members, families, and staff to create a connected, encouraging aquatics community.
- Deliver High Quality Programs:
- - Support the organization, scheduling, and implementation of aquatics programs—including lessons, classes, and offerings—to ensure smooth, consistent experiences for all members.
Minimum

Qualifications:
- Minimum Age: 18+ years old.
- Education & Certification:
- - CPO or Lifeguard Trainer certifications preferred.
- - First Aid and CPR certifications required (training provided and paid for by the YMCA).
- Experience & Skills:
- - 1 year of aquatics experience required.
- - Supervisory experience highly preferred.
- - Excellent organization, communication, and planning skills.
