What is needed for this job as our Aquatics Director:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 21+ years of age
  • 2+ years of experience with current ARC Lifeguard/Water Park, CPR for Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Administering Emergency Oxygen and YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification with 2 years of related experience
  • 2+ years experience in fitness, recreation management, or similar
  • 2+ years experience managing 50+ team members
  • 2+ years experience managing Profit and Loss (P&L) statements and budgets
  • Experience providing high-end member service and managing member concerns
  • Ability to use water chemistry test kit

The responsibilities we will trust you with as our Aquatics Director:

  • Provide leadership in the delivery of quality within the YMCA aquatic department
  • Monitor all programs and staff in the pool assigned
  • Ensure program quality and monitor staff performance and member service
  • Ensure the swimming facility is meeting or exceeding the Aquatic Safety Standards
  • Facilitate monthly in-service meetings that include skill review
  • Supervise staff and ensure appropriate staffing of pool
  • Develop high quality aquatics programs, including swim lessons and water fitness that meet the needs of the community
  • Ensure quality program delivery by certified staff and effective use of resources including staffing
  • Ensure safety and prevent injuries by supervising pool area
  • Administer first aid to victims using OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Universal Precautions until Emergency Medical Service arrives
  • Maintain current certifications and physical fitness
  • Communicate all pool rules and ensure that you are accessible and identifiable
  • Maintain pool logs, incident/accident reports, locker room checks and other documents as required
  • Perform pool maintenance duties in accordance with OSHA Hazardous Materials Precautions. Perform water quality testing
  • May be required to pursue POOL Operator or CPO certification and backwash pool filtration system and monitor pool chemicals
  • May be required to pursue PA Department of Agriculture Category 24 Pesticide Applicator or Technician certification
