The Pawtucket Family Branch of the YMCA of Pawtucket is seeking an enthusiastic, mission-driven Aquatics Director to join our leadership team. The Aquatics Director leads a team of lifeguards and swim instructors, creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where members and guests of all ages and abilities can thrive. This position is responsible for recruiting, training, scheduling, and developing aquatics staff while ensuring exceptional safety standards and outstanding members’ experiences.
A primary focus of this role is growing our swim lesson program because we believe every child should have the opportunity to learn this life-saving skill. You will expand participation, support and develop outstanding instructors, and oversee grant-funded programs that make swim lessons accessible to children and families throughout our community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
- Monitors daily pond operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pond. Secures and schedules pond facilities. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
- Conducts certifications in lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid, CPR, AED and in-service trainings.
- Creates and schedules swim classes and swim team practices and meets. Collaborate with the H&W Director on water fitness classes.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Assists in YMCA annual support, special events and fundraising activities.
- Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to
- all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation
- in program.
- Adheres to the YMCA of Pawtucket code of conduct, policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree in related field or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Two or more years related experience preferred, for example, as an aquatics coordinator or supervisor. Experience or knowledge of swim teams a plus.
- Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers
- CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Lifeguard certification required. Certified swim instructor, aquatics certifications or pool operation certification a plus.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
