Job Location BCC North Star - Bridgeport, CT 06604 Position Type Full Time

In accordance with RNP’s Mission Statement, Philosophy of Client Care and Code of Ethics as stated in the Personnel Policies and under the supervision of the Medical Director diagnoses and treats substance abuse by performing the following duties:

Hours:

Monday- Friday 7am-3pm

CORE FUNCTION

• Examines clients to determine general physical condition.
• Orders laboratory tests and evaluates data obtained.
• Prescribes methadone and routinely reviews client dosage levels.
• Advises clients concerning diet, hygiene and methods for prevention of disease.
• Refers clients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment.
• Reviews client medical records for accuracy and completeness.
• Recommends subject matter for and participates in staff education and training sessions.
• Covers for Medical Director when necessary.
• Assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor and/or program director.

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Knowledge of substance abuse treatment.
• Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES

• Valid State of Connecticut medical license required.
• Incumbents may be required to secure professional certification and/or license.
