We partner with leading construction companies and architectural design firms to bring signage visions to life—from concept to installation.

We are seeking a motivated and dependable Apprentice Welder to join our Houston manufacturing team. This entry-level role is designed for a recent welding graduate eager to apply their training to the specialized field of architectural signage. Working under the guidance of Lead Fabricators, this role is responsible for supporting the structural build of custom signage while mastering the "Hardman Way" of precision welding and shop safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Apprentice Welder supports the fabrication team throughout the manufacturing phase:

  • Welding Support: Assist in the structural welding of steel and aluminum sign components, including pylon covers, monument signs, and custom cabinets, using MIG/TIG processes as assigned.
  • Metal Preparation: Perform critical pre-welding tasks including cutting, grinding, sanding, and cleaning metal components to ensure high-quality structural bonds and a professional finish.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Learn to read and interpret architectural shop drawings and site plans to ensure all fabricated components meet exact design specifications.
  • Shop Maintenance & Safety: Maintain welding equipment and ensure a clean, organized work area. Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, including the proper use of PPE and fire prevention measures.

Education and Experience



  • Experience:
    Recent completion of a Welding Certificate program or equivalent trade school training is required. Prior experience in a manufacturing or metal shop environment is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in MIG welding and the safe operation of shop tools (angle grinders, band saws, drills, etc.). Ability to learn precision measurement and layout.
  • Communication: Ability to follow detailed technical instructions from Lead Fabricators and communicate effectively within a fast-paced production team.

  • Remaining in a stationary position or moving throughout a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility for prolonged periods.
  • The ability to work in high-heat environments (temperatures reaching 100°F+) and around dust and noise common in metal fabrication.
  • Lifting and moving materials weighing up to 50 lbs. and navigating a shop floor with various machinery.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
