Work Environment/ Physical Demands

Will primarily work in an automotive shop environment. Workspace is covered but may involve various weather conditions such as heat and cold as well as safety hazards due to the nature of work. May experience loud noise on a regular basis.

  • Medium/Heavy Work-Will lift over 50 pounds at a time with assistance device required and/or frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to or over 35 pounds with assistance device available as needed.
  • This position will require the employee to be standing for prolonged periods of time
  • This position requires the ability to push, pull, stoop, kneel, reach, grasp, and walk on a regular basis

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Shop Business Hours with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent. A recent graduate of a vocational program in automotive repair.

Preferred Education and Experience

A.A or equivalent vocational certification in automotive repair. A combination of education and experience to equal certification and one or more years' experience.

Job Overview

Summary/Objective

The Apprentice Technician will diagnose and perform repairs on all vehicle components with efficiency and accuracy under the direction of a senior or master technician and in accordance with dealer and manufacturer/factory standards.

Essential Functions

  • Performs basic automotive and truck maintenance services including but not limited to rotating, replacing, mounting, and balancing tires, adjusting fluids and coolants, oil and filter changes, and brake adjustments
  • Maintains a clean, efficient work area and assists in keeping the shop neat and organized
  • Ensures that customer vehicles are repaired accurately and kept clean - road test vehicles to ensure quality repairs the first time.
  • Diagnoses malfunctions and performs the repairs for them under the direction of a senior technician
  • Full Automotive troubleshooting and testing under the direction of a senior or master technician
  • Performs additional duties related to the repair of vehicles as required and assigned by senior or Master Technicians or Supervisors
  • Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
  • Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order
  • Communicate with Service Advisor and/or Dispatcher if additional work is needed
  • Aids service writer as needed to write work orders, conduct test rides, interact with the customer, or in any other way you are able to guarantee customer satisfaction
  • Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer and in accordance with company policies
  • Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to working with hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management immediately
  • Communicate with Supervisor if additional work is needed
  • Follows all attendance and punctuality standards with adherence to timekeeping standards
  • Follows the Company Code of Business Ethics and Conduct
  • Understands and follows all work rules and procedures and follows lawful directions from Supervisors
  • Upholds the company's non-disclosure and confidentiality policies and agreements
  • Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with company policy
  • Attends pertinent training on request
  • Attends company meetings as required
