The Apprentice is responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of the Power Plant and Cogeneration Plant and all related auxiliary equipment. Also responsible to assist in the maintenance of all mechanical systems in all buildings.
Job Responsibility
1.Complete all work as assigned. 2.Insure that fuel oil tank readings are logged on log sheets and reported to Lead Engineer / Immediate Supervisor. 3.Assist in all Engineering emergencies throughout the campus, as necessary. 4.Required to learn proper operating procedures for emergency generators. 5.Required to report to Power Plant/Engineering Office as per assigned schedule. 6.Observes rules, policies and regulations with regard to attendance, punctuality, appearance and professional attitude as established within the guidelines of the LIH Employee Handbook. 7.Responsible for the general appearance and housekeeping of the entire plant as well as the Maintenance shop as assigned. 8.Required to work in a safe manner as per accepted standards. 9.Report suspicious persons/information to supervisor immediately. 10.Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your supervisor as soon as possible. 11.Follow all established safety procedures and precautions when operating office equipment. 12.Effectively communicates with staff to accomplish goals and objectives. 13.Creates a work atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the facility. 14.Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the facility. 15.Maintains an adequate liaison with families, residents and patients. 16.Demonstrates awareness, respect and concern for internal as well as external people throughout the facility. 17.Apprentice may be required to work extended or additional shifts/hours beyond his normal work week. 18.Required to have some knowledge of all tools and test equipment. 19.Required to perform maintenance work as directed. 20.Conforms with the HIPAA Compliance Program and applicable facility policies for patient privacy. 21.Required to attend annual In-Service which would cover the following areas: �Cultural Awareness/Customer Service �Fire Safety, Harassment �Hazardous Communications �Infection Control �Medical Equip/Safe Medical Devices �Patient/Residents Rights �Performance Improvement �Safety & Security �Utility Management �HIPAA. 22.Performs other duties, as required. *ADA Essential Functions
Job Qualification
�Must hold a current New York State Drivers License. �Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent schooling and must be able to read and write in the English Language. �Responsible to continue apprentice education program and maintain proper classroom participation, grades, work performance, attitude and attendance. �Must be capable of making decisions with assistance and request assistance, as needed.
