Apprentice Plumber (2–3 Years Experience)

Reports To: Licensed Journeyman or Master Plumber

The Apprentice Plumber (2–3 Years Experience) performs skilled plumbing work under the supervision of a licensed Journeyman or Master Plumber in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This role is designed for a developing tradesperson who is actively registered with the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners and has gained solid field experience. The Apprentice is expected to work with increasing independence while maintaining strict compliance with Texas plumbing codes and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in and independently perform installation of water, sanitary, and gas piping systems
• Install and replace plumbing fixtures, valves, and water heaters
• Rough-in plumbing systems for new construction and remodeling projects
• Interpret blueprints, specifications, and plumbing schematics
• Perform basic troubleshooting and assist in diagnosing system failures
• Conduct pressure testing and system inspections under supervision
• Ensure compliance with state and local plumbing codes
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and materials used
• Mentor and support entry-level apprentices when appropriate
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of hands-on plumbing experience
• Active Apprentice Plumber registration with the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners
• Working knowledge of plumbing codes, materials, and installation standards
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Proficiency using hand and power tools
• Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in confined spaces, heights, and varying weather conditions

Work Environment
