The Opportunity
Moonee Valley City Council is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Gardener to join our Parks and Gardens team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills while completing a Certificate III in Horticulture.
In this hands-on role, you will work as part of a supportive team to maintain and enhance the presentation of our parks, gardens, and open spaces. This position is based in Queens Park, working on high-end horticultural assets and contributing to the presentation of one of Council’s premier open space environmentsYou will gain experience in a variety of horticultural maintenance activities while contributing to the delivery of high-quality, sustainable public spaces for the community.
Key Responsibilities
Skills & Experience
You will have a strong interest in horticulture or a related field, with either some prior experience or a genuine passion to learn and develop your skills. You bring an enthusiastic attitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. You possess a basic understanding of parks and gardens maintenance and are keen to build your knowledge of plant, equipment, and horticultural practices. You have sound communication skills, both written and verbal, and can follow instructions while developing your problem-solving abilities. This role requires a good level of physical fitness to undertake manual tasks such as lifting, bending, and operating tools and equipment. A current Victorian Driver Licence is preferred, or a willingness to obtain one.
