Apprentice Electrician

Department: Electrical

Employment Type: Permanent

Location: Guernsey

Reporting To: Team Lead

To assist in carrying out electrical repairs and installation work in accordance with local regulations through the application of theoretical knowledge acquired.

Key Responsibilities

• To learn and assist in the installation, maintenance, test and repair of electrical systems in industrial, commercial and domestic premises.
• To learn and assist in the installation, maintenance and repair of electric heating and control solutions.
• To assist with routine checking and testing of all types of electrical systems, including the location and repair of faults and the production of certification.
• To promote the Company and all its service offerings and to provide customers with advice on the systems installed, including advice on efficient operation.
• To attend college courses as required by GEL and pass the assignments and examinations in order to complete the qualification.
• Be aware of and comply with local legislation, specifically related to Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Data Protection.
• Such other duties as may be allocated, and interchange of duties as required.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

· On course to complete the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electronic Technical Technology or equivalent qualification· May be required to attend other training as appropriate· Must have a knowledge of current IET Regulations· A current category “B” driving licence would be beneficial· Demonstrate a current knowledge of the functional structure of Guernsey Electricity, its mission, objectives, strategies, and critical success factors
