There are multiple vacancies. Our Apprentice Ductline Mechanic (ADLM) positions are in Atlanta, GA. Your ability to work out of the Atlanta office (and sometimes surroundings areas) from a commutable distance is required. This location is essential for progression through the Apprentice Ductline Mechanic Development Program. All candidates must be available to work within a certain distance of their assigned operating headquarters (upon hire). No relocation assistance is available.
of Position Duties
The ADLM will assist with the construction & maintenance of the network underground systems and other hi-rely distribution systems across the state of Georgia. You will learn the construction and maintenance activities associated with our Network & Hi-rely Distribution systems, as well as operating procedures for all equipment involved in the process, including cranes, large dump trucks and excavating equipment. The ability to work on our system in enclosed spaces such as manholes, vaults & tunnels where entry requires access by ladders plus the ability to work in deep excavations requiring proper shoring is required. The ability to work in these environments and feel comfortable doing so is critical to the success in the program. The most important thing you will learn is how to safely perform every task while providing a quality product in an efficient manner.
Training: The Apprentice Ductline Mechanic (ADLM) position was developed as a part of the Ductline Journeyman Development Program. The program is an extensive training program combining skills training, classroom training, and on-the-job training. The successful completion of the 2-year program is required to become a Journeyman Ductline Mechanic with Georgia Power. You will receive training in the installation of precast network manholes, precast network vaults, bay walls (brick/block/concrete), etc. The candidate will also be trained to remove/strip concrete from energized ductlines and how to remove/install vault & manhole roofs.

Additional Information
Pay: This is a position covered by a collective bargaining agreement between GPC and IBEW Local 84. Union membership is optional. Current starting pay for ALL NEW HIRES is $6,458/month or approximately $37.26/hour. Apprentice Ductline Mechanic candidates who receive job offers will be hired at this rate, regardless of experience/skills. This rate is non-negotiable.
