The Role

As an Apprentice in the Fab Shop, you will gain hands‑on experience in machining, fabrication, and assembly operations. You will work under the guidance of experienced technicians and engineers, learning practical skills in CNC machining, fitting, milling, and fabrication processes. This role is designed to build strong technical foundations for a career in industrial automation and manufacturing. This position reports to the Managing Director – Manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and assist in CNC/VMC machine setup, programming, and operations, ensuring precision and efficiency.
  • Support milling, turning, wire cut, and fitting activities in the fabrication shop.
  • Perform assembly, alignment, welding, and finishing of fabricated components as per specifications.
  • Conduct basic quality control checks to ensure components meet required standards.
  • Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications accurately.
  • Maintain tools, machines, and work areas in compliance with safety and housekeeping standards
  • Collaborate with senior machinists, fitters, and welders to complete assigned tasks.
  • Participate in structured training sessions to develop technical, safety, and quality knowledge.
  • Document work progress, inspection results, and report issues to supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Education: ITI / Diploma / BE in Mechanical, Production, or related fields.
  • Strong interest in machining, fabrication, and industrial automation.
  • Basic knowledge of machine tools and workshop practices.
  • Ability to work in a team and follow instructions carefully.

Desirable

  • Prior internship or project exposure to CNC, milling, or fabrication.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and measurement tools

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
  • Occasionally lifts or move up to 25 pounds.
