Job Location: PROPERTY TAX APPRAISAL - Brunswick, GA 31520
Salary Range: $20.68 Hourly

Job Shift: DayJOB SUMMARY: This position performs technical duties in support of the property appraisal process.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Answers telephone and greets visitors; responds to email; provides information and assistance related to the property appraisal process; resolves customer service issues or refers customers to appropriate staff.
- Enters data into software system.
- Receives and processes real, personal, business, and marine property tax returns.
- Receives and processes homestead exemption applications; reviews for accuracy and completeness; identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves inaccuracies.
- Scans and prints property records cards for online requests and walk-ins.
- Maintains files and records.
- Responds to open records requests.
- Prepares regular and special reports.
- Performs related duties.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
- Knowledge of state and local property tax laws.
- Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Skill in maintaining accurate records.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Deputy Chief Appraiser assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES: Guidelines include the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, the Appraisal Procedure Manual, Department of Revenue regulations, and department and county policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK:
- The work consists of related technical duties. Strict guidelines and the need for accuracy contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to provide technical support for the appraisal process. Successful performance helps ensure data accuracy and completeness.

- Contacts are typically with coworkers, taxpayers, appraisers, attorneys, surveyors, and the general public.
- Contacts are typically to exchange information, resolve problems, or provide services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects and distinguishes between shades of color.
- The work is typically performed in an office.

Qualifications & Benefits
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
