Group 1 Automotive, Inc. s seeking to hire an Applications Specialist I This entry-level role provides technical support for enterprise applications and assists with application development, system integrations, and ongoing enhancements that support business operations across the organization.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career technology professional looking to build experience in application development, systems support, cloud technologies, and enterprise applications while working alongside experienced developers and IT professionals.

The Applications Specialist I supports the development, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise applications and integrations. Working under the guidance of senior team members, this role assists with application support, troubleshooting, testing, documentation, and system improvements while learning enterprise development standards and best practices.

The ideal candidate is eager to learn, enjoys solving technical problems, communicates effectively, and thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

Application Support & Development

  • Assist with the development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of internal business applications.
  • Support application enhancements, bug fixes, and system improvements.
  • Troubleshoot application issues and assist with problem resolution.

Systems Integration

  • Assist in supporting system integrations and data workflows between enterprise applications.
  • Help monitor and validate data interfaces to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Support integration testing and documentation activities.

Business Partnership

  • Work with business users and IT teams to understand application needs and support technical solutions.
  • Assist in gathering business requirements and documenting system changes.
  • Provide responsive support to internal users by troubleshooting application-related issues.

Documentation & Quality

  • Maintain technical documentation, process guides, and application support materials.
  • Participate in application testing, quality assurance, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Follow established development standards, coding practices, and documentation requirements.

Continuous Learning

  • Develop knowledge of enterprise applications, cloud technologies, and software development practices.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and participate in training opportunities to build technical skills.
  • Contribute ideas for improving applications, processes, and user experience.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 0–2 years of experience in application development, application support, IT systems, or a related technical role (internships or co-op experience welcomed).
  • Basic understanding of software development concepts and application lifecycle.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong desire to learn new technologies and continuously develop technical skills.

Preferred

  • Exposure to programming languages such as C#, NET, or similar object-oriented languages.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Azure, or cloud-based technologies.
  • Exposure to APIs, integrations, or web services through coursework, internships, or personal projects.
  • Familiarity with source control tools such as Git.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 applications.
