Job Summary

As an Applications Engineer within our Intralogistics Solutions Group, you will promote Carolina Handling both internally and externally, working closely with Sales and Operations. You are responsible for the development, design, and support of warehouse automation, storage, and material handling solutions that help customers improve operational efficiency, safety, productivity, and return on investment. Applications Engineers collaborate with Sales, Operations, Project Management, vendors, and customers throughout the solution lifecycle, from discovery and concept development through implementation and support. You may handle straightforward technical requirements independently or seek assistance from internal resources, Raymond, or other vendor partners to discover and develop all necessary technical requirements for each project. As engineers progress through the career path, they are expected to increase their technical expertise, project ownership, customer engagement responsibilities, and leadership influence.

Responsibilities

· Sales Support

o Support customer presentations, demonstrations, and proposal reviews.

o Provide technical expertise during the sales process.

o Develop pricing support and quotation documentation.

o Assist with sales training and knowledge sharing.

o Maintain opportunity and project information within CRM systems.

  • Technical Coordination

o Analyze customer requirements, workflows, and operational challenges.

o Conduct site surveys and gather data for solution development related to autonomous vehicles, vertical lift modules, racking systems and other static storage solutions

o Design facility layouts, system concepts, and design alternatives.

o Prepare bills of material, equipment recommendations, and supporting documentation.

o Research emerging technologies, warehouse systems and maintain strong sales/commercial acumen.

  • Project Management Support

o Maintain knowledge of the latest installation procedures and options, including pictures of various warehouse sites.

o Coordinate with Operations, Project Management, vendors, and suppliers.

o Support project execution activities, including equipment procurement, installation, and startup planning.

o Monitor project scope, schedules, and budgets assigned.

o Resolve technical issues throughout project implementation.

  • Networking and Professional Development

o Network with other dealer resources and establish a support group.

o Maintain industry knowledge of automation, software, storage, and material handling technologies.

o Support continuous improvement initiatives.

o Build relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, and industry partners.

o Perform any other duties as assigned or required to support the company's overall operations and objectives.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job unless it causes undue hardship.

This position is classified as medium work, involving the operation of motor vehicles and heavy equipment, as well as movement to complete tasks or transition between work sites. Physical demands include the ability to frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity is necessary for equipment operation, computer use, writing, and handling materials. Clear articulation and voice control are essential for effective communication with both internal and external customers via telephone. Specific vision abilities essential for this role include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

This role entails working in a dynamic environment, encompassing both office-based tasks and visits to customer sites, involving regular interaction with internal and external customers. Travel to customer locations for sales calls and presentations is a requirement, potentially exposing the individual to diverse environments, including the risk of encountering harmful or corrosive chemicals if proper safety protocols are not followed. Additionally, the role often involves exposure to various outdoor weather conditions. The individual in this position must adeptly manage strict deadlines, shifting priorities, and a high volume of information flow while consistently upholding professionalism. Standard office equipment such as laptops and smartphones are routinely utilized, and noise levels typically range from moderate to high.

Travel Requirements: Daily/Weekly travel to customer sites is required; Occasional overnight travel may be required based on the location and scope of the project, for meetings and/or conferences.
