This position serves as a senior-level Applications Architect for the City, acting as the primary solutions architect for high-complexity projects, a Database Administrator for business applications, and the Tier 3 escalation point for the most complex enterprise application issues. The role leads research and evaluation of emerging technologies, serves as a subject matter expert during technology discovery and procurement, and develops custom solutions using low-code, no-code, and scripting tools to automate business processes. Day-to-day work includes SQL database maintenance, schema design and reverse engineering, API definition, reporting solutions, and participation in 24x7 emergency support for IT infrastructure. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in a related field plus 3-5 years of general IT experience and 1-3 years of specialized experience in areas such as SQL administration, business intelligence, programming, or low-code development, with public safety positions also requiring an FBI background check and ACJIS certification. Success in the role depends on broad IT versatility, independent research skills, strong customer service, and the ability to manage medium-sized projects with minimal supervision. Please note that the position will require on-site work during the initial training period, which is expected to be approximately six months or longer based on training and operational needs. After the training period, remote or hybrid work may be considered in accordance with applicable City policy and directives, with the potential to work up to two days remotely, subject to position requirements and supervisor approval.
