The Impact you will have in this role:

As an Application Support Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the stability, availability, resiliency, and performance of business-critical applications that support DTCC’s post-trade processing, settlement, and next-generation financial technology platforms. You will work closely with development, infrastructure, cloud engineering, and business teams to diagnose and resolve production issues, support application deployments, enhance monitoring and observability capabilities, and improve operational readiness across the technology landscape.

This role provides the opportunity to work with modern technologies across cloud platforms, enterprise messaging systems, distributed applications, automation initiatives, and enterprise observability solutions. You will contribute to operational excellence by improving reliability, reducing operational risk, strengthening disaster recovery capabilities, and supporting applications that are essential to DTCC’s day-to-day business operations and strategic technology transformation efforts.

Your Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide production support for mission-critical applications, ensuring timely resolution of incidents, production defects, service disruptions, and application issues
  • Monitor application, infrastructure, integration, and messaging platform health using enterprise monitoring, logging, and observability tools and respond proactively to alerts and operational events
  • Perform detailed troubleshooting and root cause analysis across application, database, middleware, messaging, cloud, and infrastructure layers to identify and resolve recurring issues
  • Partner with development, infrastructure, cloud engineering, cybersecurity, and vendor teams to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve technical and operational challenges
  • Maintain and continuously improve support documentation, operational procedures, knowledge articles, and production runbooks to ensure effective support coverage and knowledge sharing
  • Support application deployments, production releases, vendor upgrades, configuration changes, and implementation activities across development, pre-production, and production environments
  • Execute Disaster Recovery (DR), Business Continuity (BCP), resiliency testing, and failover procedures during planned exercises and unplanned production events
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual operational tasks, improve recovery times, reduce operational risk, and enhance operational efficiency
  • Support audit requests, operational controls, compliance activities, and governance requirements in accordance with regulatory and enterprise standards
  • Partner with development teams throughout the software development lifecycle to improve application reliability, supportability, operational readiness, and production performance
  • Execute day-to-day support activities in alignment with established risk, control, governance, and compliance frameworks
  • Provide support coverage during APAC business hours as required and collaborate with global support teams to ensure seamless operational coverage

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in Application Support, Production Support, Software Support, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or related technical roles, ideally within Financial Services, Capital Markets, Securities Processing, FinTech, or other highly regulated industries
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or equivalent experience
  • Experience supporting business-critical applications in complex production environments
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot issues across multiple technology layers, including applications, databases, middleware, messaging platforms, and infrastructure
  • Experience working in fast-paced operational environments requiring strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Talents Needed for Success:

  • Experience supporting Java/J2EE-based enterprise applications
  • Strong Oracle database and SQL troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working in Linux/Unix environments, with basic networking and infrastructure troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools such as Splunk, Datadog, Dynatrace, or similar platforms
  • Hands-on experience supporting IBM MQ, Kafka, or other enterprise messaging technologies
  • Experience with integration technologies such as IBM Integration Bus (IIB), ACE, or related middleware platforms
  • Experience working with Azure and/or AWS cloud environments, including cloud-native or hybrid technology environments
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or containerized application environments
  • Knowledge of application resiliency, disaster recovery, and high-availability concepts
  • Understanding of ITIL practices including Incident, Problem, Change, and Knowledge Management
  • Experience supporting application deployments, production releases, environment upgrades, and operational readiness activities
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex production issues
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across development, infrastructure, business, and support organizations
  • Experience driving operational improvements through automation, monitoring enhancements, and process optimization
  • Exposure to blockchain technologies, digital asset platforms, and distributed systems
  • Exposure to AI-enabled tools such as Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, or similar productivity and engineering tools
