Within ZEISS Meditech, we develop and deliver advanced solutions for ophthalmic surgery, neurosurgery, and diagnostic imaging. Our portfolio also includes DORC, a ZEISS company, further strengthening our position in ophthalmic surgery and expanding our capabilities in the eye care market.
We’re looking for a Surgical Application Specialist, to join us in Romania, ideally based in the western region of the country, covering the full national territory with regular travel and occasional overnight stays.
Your Role
The Surgical Application Specialist will be responsible for providing clinical and technical training support to customers on surgical ophthalmic products, with a strong focus on phacoemulsification systems. The role ensures optimal use of surgical solutions through hands-on training, clinical support, and customer engagement, while also supporting sales activities and building strong referral networks.
The role of Surgical Application Specialist will involve:
Delivering high-quality on-site training to surgeons and clinical staff on surgical systems and applications
Supporting customers in surgical environments, including troubleshooting and first-line technical assistance
Managing a national territory (Romania) by independently planning customer visits, training schedules, and travel arrangements
Acting as a clinical expert for ZEISS Surgical Suite products and supporting adoption and usage in the field
Collaborating closely with sales, marketing, and field service teams to improve customer experience and drive business growth
Your Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline
3–5 years of experience in ophthalmic surgery, ophthalmic industry, or a closely related clinical environment
Strong understanding of cataract surgery, ocular anatomy, and IOL calculations
Experience working in a customer-facing clinical or surgical training role
Strong communication and teaching skills, with the ability to support users in high-pressure clinical environments
It would be desirable if you had:
Industry-standard ophthalmic credentialing
Experience with ZEISS or similar ophthalmic surgical systems
Exposure to medical device sales support or clinical application training

Role Details
Location: Romania (candidate must be based in Western Romania)
Territory: Nationwide (Romania with some SEE travel)
Travel: Frequent travel required, including overnight stays and occasional weekend work
Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
English business fluent (German is an advantage)
