Application Specialist Outside IR35

My client are seeking an experienced Application Specialist to work on a high-priority, transformational initiative designed to modernise their core digital infrastructure, improve service resilience, and enhance cybersecurity readiness.

As an Application Specialist you will provide expert support in the management, configuration, and optimisation of applications within the IT Improvement Project. The role involves analysing application performance, identifying areas for enhancement, and implementing improvements to ensure alignment with business requirements. Responsibilities include troubleshooting technical issues, providing user support, and liaising with vendors for system updates and patches.

Candidates MUST have the following skills / experience:

• Public sector experience (candidates without this cannot be considered for the role)
• In-depth understanding of application lifecycle stages: requirements, acquisition/development, deployment, maintenance, upgrade, and retirement.
• Knowledge of application portfolio management practices and principles, including rationalisation and total cost of ownership (TCO).
• Familiarity with service management frameworks (ITIL) and change/release controls for business-critical applications.
• Awareness of technical dependencies across infrastructure, middleware, and cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS).
• Strong grasp of information governance, data retention, and security standards (GDPR, NCSC, ISO 27001).
