
The Application Packaging Engineer supports the SEC ISS contract by delivering secure, standardized software packaging and deployment services for enterprise endpoints. This role builds, tests, and deploys application packages aligned with SEC endpoint baselines, operational readiness expectations, and end-user support needs. The engineer analyzes application requirements, develops installation scripts, and ensures compatibility with supported operating systems and security standards. The position provides subject matter expertise in application and software packaging and supports reliable remote software distribution across the enterprise.
This role is onsite in Washington, DC
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Software Packaging and Deployment
- Build, maintain, and deploy enterprise software packages for SEC endpoint environments.
- Develop and update installation, configuration, and uninstall scripts to support automated deployment and rollback.
- Manage packaging activities for new applications, version updates, and software retirements tied to refresh cycles and policy changes.
- Execute remote software distribution to support users across locations with minimal operational disruption.
Testing, Compatibility, and Release Readiness
- Analyze application requirements, dependencies, and conflicts before packaging and release.
- Perform package validation in pre-production environments prior to production deployment.
- Verify compatibility with SEC-supported operating systems, endpoint baselines, and security configurations.
- Troubleshoot installation failures and package behavior issues, determine root cause, and implement corrective actions.
Security, Compliance, and Standards
- Ensure packaged applications and deployments align with SEC security and compliance requirements.
- Maintain current SOPs, packaging documentation, and version-controlled artifacts to support audit readiness and operational consistency.
- Support software and configuration remediation activities tied to endpoint compliance objectives.
- Apply packaging and deployment standards that maintain compliance and operational efficiency.
Operational Support and Collaboration
- Coordinate with endpoint engineering, customer service desk, and infrastructure teams to prioritize and execute deployment work.
- Assist with incident and service request resolution for software-related endpoint issues using SEC service management processes.
- Provide subject matter expertise for application packaging tools, methods, and process improvements.
- Produce operational metrics and status updates on package health, deployment outcomes, and compliance performance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Citizenship/Work Authorization: US Citizenship
Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain SEC Public Trust (or higher if required).
Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering). Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Experience:
- 7+ years of related experience packaging and distributing software applications within end-user computing environments.
-Experience with Microsoft SCCM/MECM, InTune and AdminStudio
- Experience utilizing remote deployment tools in enterprise environments.
- Experience creating, testing, deploying, and troubleshooting software packages for secure, large-scale production deployment.
- Demonstrated subject matter expertise in issues and tasks related to application and software packaging.
Technical Skills:
- Microsoft SCCM/MECM and AdminStudio
- Enterprise software packaging, distribution, and deployment processes
- Application requirements analysis and installation script development
- Compatibility validation with operating systems and security standards
- Troubleshooting installation and deployment issues in enterprise endpoint environments
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience supporting federal IT environments with FISMA/NIST and zero-trust security requirements.
- Preferred/inferred from broader ISS environment: Experience with endpoint/mobile management integrations (e.g., Microsoft Intune/MDM).
- Experience supporting release activities governed by Change Control Board and related IT governance processes.
- Preferred/inferred from broader ISS environment: Experience with advanced packaging automation and validation practices (e.g., PowerShell, MSI/MSIX, enterprise UAT coordination).
- Preferred/inferred from broader ISS environment: ITIL-aligned service management experience with strong SOP/runbook and operational reporting discipline.
- Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102)
- ITIL 4 Foundation
- AdminStudio or SCCM/MECM packaging-related certification
WORK ENVIRONMENT / OTHER
Operational Support: May require participation in on-call or surge support activities depending on operational needs.
Location: On-site at SEC HQ, Washington, DC
Travel: As required per contract direction.

Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
