The opportunity:
As an Application Manager – AMS, you will be responsible for the operational ownership of a portfolio of enterprise applications and for ensuring stable, compliant, and high-quality Application Management Services. You will act as a key interface between business stakeholders, IT partners, and service providers, and play a critical role in ensuring applications meet Hitachi Energy standards while enabling reliable business operations. In this role you will also be exposed and expected to lead small enhancement projects with the support of third-party resources. This is a senior individual contributor role requiring strong autonomy, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple topics in parallel within a global environment

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Manage Application Management Services (AMS) for assigned applications, covering the full operational
    lifecycle.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for business stakeholders, handling escalations and ensuring
    structured, transparent communication.
  • Coordinate and govern external AMS service providers and internal support teams to ensure services are
    delivered according to agreed SLAs, OLAs, and KPIs.
  • Ensure applications comply with Hitachi Energy IT governance, cybersecurity, risk, and compliance
    requirements, applying industry best practices.
  • Oversee and drive quality across incidents, problems, changes, releases, and service improvements to
    ensure application stability and performance.
  • Lead specific project initiatives for enhancement of applications under your scope.
  • Proactively identify risks, compliance gaps, and operational inefficiencies, and lead corrective and preventive
    actions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, service records, and reporting to support audits, reviews, and operational
    transparency.
  • Collaborate closely with Application Owners, Enterprise Architects, Cybersecurity, Compliance, and other IT
    functions.
  • Support application onboarding, transitions, and decommissioning activities within the AMS scope.
  • Operate independently across multiple applications and priorities, balancing operational demands and
    stakeholder expectations.
  • Generate reports, dashboards and presentations related to IT services to be presented to business and IT
    stakeholders.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional
    experience.
  • Should have 10+years’ experience in the relevant field.
  • Proven experience in Application Management, AMS, or IT Service Management, ideally in a large enterprise
    or global organization.
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL-based service management processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Release,
    Vendor Management).
  • Solid understanding of IT governance, compliance, cybersecurity, and risk management in application
    landscapes.
  • Demonstrated seniority and maturity to work independently, manage ambiguity, and handle multiple parallel
    responsibilities.
  • Experience working with external service providers and holding vendors accountable for service quality.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including interaction with business users and
    senior IT stakeholders.
  • Experience working in distributed, international teams.
  • Experience working in AMS delivery models in India, including collaboration with global teams in Europe and
    the Americas.
  • Practical experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM / IT governance platforms.
  • Exposure to regulated or compliance-driven environments (e.g., cybersecurity audits, internal controls).
  • Familiarity with application lifecycle management, including onboarding and decommissioning processes.
  • Basic understanding of cloud-based and enterprise application architectures.
  • ITIL certification or comparable service management training.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
