Job Description

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) will lead the design, build, and evolution of a modern, high‑performance enterprise application and data platform, leveraging Java, Spring Boot, Databricks, Apache Spark, AWS, and AI technologies

This role requires deep technical leadership combined with strong people management to deliver secure, compliant, scalable, data‑driven and AI‑enabled solutions that meet banking standards and enterprise governance expectations

Key Responsibilities :

Architecture, Design & Engineering Excellence

  • Architect and build high‑performance, scalable, low‑latency applications using modern design patterns (microservices, event‑driven, domain‑driven design, streaming, batch).
  • Ensure strict adherence to banking and enterprise technology standards, including:
    • Security, privacy, and compliance
    • Resilience, availability, and disaster recovery
    • Auditability, logging, and traceability
  • Apply and enforce industry‑standard software design patterns, clean architecture principles, and SOLID design practices across all layers.
  • Continuously evaluate and adopt fast‑performing, modern technologies to improve throughput, scalability, cost efficiency, and developer productivity.

Data Engineering, Quality & Performance Focus

  • Lead design and implementation of robust data pipelines using Databricks, Apache Spark, and cloud‑native services
  • Establish strong data quality frameworks, including:
    • Data validation and reconciliation
    • Accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and consistency checks
    • Monitoring of data SLAs and data anomalies
  • Ensure high‑performance data processing by optimizing Spark jobs, storage strategies, and compute resources.
  • Drive best practices in data governance, metadata management, and lineage

AI & Advanced Analytics Enablement

  • Design platforms capable of supporting AI/ML use cases, including:
    • Data preparation for machine learning
    • Model training, evaluation, and inference pipelines
    • Integration of AI/ML models into applications and business workflows
  • Promote adoption of latest AI technologies, frameworks, and architectural patterns in alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Collaborate with data science and product teams to translate AI concepts into production‑ready solutions

Technology Modernization & Innovation

  • Stay current with latest technology trends across Java ecosystems, cloud platforms, data engineering, and AI/ML.
  • Drive modernization initiatives, replacing legacy patterns with cloud‑native, scalable, and future‑ready architectures
  • Balance innovation with risk management and regulatory expectations typical of banking environments.

People & Delivery Leadership

  • Lead and mentor multi‑disciplinary teams (application engineers, data engineers, platform engineers).
  • Set clear engineering standards for code quality, performance, security, and documentation
  • Ensure predictable delivery through agile and DevOps practices, CI/CD automation, and strong release governance.
  • Build an environment of continuous improvement and technical excellence

Required Skills & Experience:

Core Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot for enterprise‑grade backend development.
  • Hands‑on experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, and large‑scale data processing.
  • Deep understanding of AWS cloud services, cloud security, and cloud‑native architectures.
  • Proven application of software design patterns, clean architecture, and bank‑grade engineering standards
  • Experience designing high‑performance, scalable, and resilient systems

Data & AI Capability

  • Strong knowledge of data quality management and data engineering best practices
  • Experience supporting or enabling AI / Machine Learning solutions in production environments.
  • Ability to evaluate and integrate new technologies and frameworks responsibly

Leadership & Enterprise Experience

  • Experience leading teams in regulated or enterprise technology environments (banking preferred).
  • Ability to make architectural and technology decisions aligned with risk, compliance, and performance needs
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to senior and non‑technical stakeholders
