Join our Retail Business Services team and help shape the shopping experience for millions of Amazon customers worldwide. You'll work on solving complex, high-impact problems across catalog management, supply chain optimization, and retail operations—using your technical expertise to build scalable solutions that drive real business results.

Key job responsibilities
- Evaluate emerging technologies and cloud infrastructure solutions to enhance our operational capabilities and system performance
- Lead incident management activities, including on-call responsibilities, and conduct thorough root cause analysis to prevent future issues
- Develop and implement automation solutions that improve stability, reliability, and scalability across our systems
- Collaborate with peers across teams to identify opportunities for solving problems that enhance customer experience
- Contribute to operational excellence initiatives by designing robust processes and systems that support our retail operations at scale

A day in the life
As a Support Engineer on our team, you'll divide your time between multiple impactful areas. You might start your morning reviewing incident reports and collaborating with operations teams to identify root causes of system issues. Later, you could be designing automation solutions that leverage machine learning to streamline catalog enrichment or supply chain defect resolution. You'll participate in on-call rotations, working through complex technical challenges alongside your teammates. Throughout the day, you'll engage with different parts of the organization—from retail operations to engineering teams—to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions. Your work directly influences how customers discover and purchase products on Amazon.

Basic Qualifications


- 4+ years of software development, or 4+ years of technical support experience
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
- Experience scripting in modern program languages
- Experience in agile/scrum or related collaborative workflow

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of distributed applications/enterprise applications
- Knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating system
- Experience operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining automated test suites and QA frameworks (unit, integration, regression, and end-to-end)
- Experience with test automation tools/frameworks and CI/CD integration for continuous quality validation
- Familiarity with software quality methodologies—test strategy, test case design, coverage analysis, performance/load testing, and defect lifecycle management
- Experience establishing and monitoring quality metrics (test coverage, defect density, escape rate) and driving root-cause analysis of quality escapes
- Experience with data infrastructures: relational analytic DBMS, Elastic-Search, and Big Data EMR/EC2/Glue/Lambda - Knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning concepts, including their application to automation and operational problem-solving
