We are hiring a FACTS Application Engineer (STATCOM/SVC) to lead technical proposal and engineering coordination activities for international FACTS projects during the tendering phase through handover to execution.
The role requires strong technical and project engineering experience, cross-functional coordination skills, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary stakeholders, customers, and subcontractors in a global environment. Within GE Vernova and Grid Solutions, the FACTS Solution Line (SL) is fully accountable for costing (ITO : Inquiry-To-Order) and providing (OTR : Order-To-Remittance) integrated FACTS solutions worldwide. As such, it owns its tendering force, operations, R&D and product management. It benefits from a complete portfolio of solutions/products to propose electrical reactive power compensations options to Grid Operators, TSOs, Developers…

GE FACTS portfolio is the most complete of the marketplace and it is composed of FSC, Synchronous Condensers, SVC and STATCOM. For which GE holds either a market / product leadership positions or a main contender position.

An overall growth plan has been elaborated focusing on either technical leapfrogs or market exploration/acquisitions to reach our growth objectives. To support it, our commercial intensity in the Power Electronics area (STATCOM/SVC) is of paramount importance, we are hiring an Application Engineer to lead our technical proposal.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this position, you will be responsible of leading and overseeing engineering activities of the international FACTS projects from tendering stage to handover to project execution organization. You’ll have the overall responsibility of the engineering coordination activities of the named project(s) in close cooperation with the Bid Manager, engineering team, and sub-contractors. The AE role includes also coordination and co-operation of the other multicultural GE units participating to the project over the globe.

Your duties would comprise of:

  • Management of overall design activities in ITO phase, defining the design quality plan, supervising and coordinating all engineering tasks required to execute the project, whether in house or by suppliers/subcontractors, and ensure technical coordination of the project in ITO phase
  • Management of project engineering deliverables in accordance to the given budget and delivery time of the offer.
  • Integrating internal- and external stakeholders, incl. customers, towards the common goal
  • Scope management and securing that the various interfaces are seamless, no gaps or duplicates
  • Guiding customers to right direction and securing GE Competitive Advantage
  • Internal and external communication and reporting
  • Participation to continuous development of project engineering management procedures, methods and tools

Requirements

To succeed in this job, you should have a degree in Engineering (Automation and Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics) and/or equivalent knowledge and experience from:

  • Several years of experience on engineering management on delivery projects or tenders
  • Skills on power electronics is a plus
  • Successful experience in management of multi-disciplinary teams with multiple interfaces and with products coming from several countries
  • Fluent in English
  • Willingness to travel
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills & experience

Desired Characteristics:

You will have already some working experience in an international environment, but above all we expect you to be a self-starter with high level of flexibility, resilience and self-learning attitude. As a person, you are a solid team-player with good prioritizing, communication and interpersonal skills. Previous experience on electrical substations or -equipment is an advantage.
