Job Description

Are you a systems thinker who thrives at the intersection of engineering excellence and cutting-edge AI-assisted development? Do you love turning complex functional requirements into elegant, scalable architectures? If you're ready to shape the future of business systems in a globally connected, innovative environment — this role is for you!

About the Role

As an (Agentic) Application Engineer III based in São Paulo, you will own the end-to-end design and delivery of sophisticated business systems, translating functional intent into precise, machine-readable technical specifications and executable architectures. Working alongside Technical Product Owners, Architects, and Engineering Leads across multicultural, globally distributed teams, you will drive system decomposition, define architectural boundaries, and ensure production-grade assurance across all solutions. You will harness AI-assisted and agentic engineering approaches to design, build, and validate systems that are scalable, resilient, and fully compliant with Swiss Re's standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement end-to-end business systems, defining AI agent interactions and translating functional intent into deterministic, machine-readable technical specifications
  • Define system boundaries, contracts, and operational constraints — including idempotency, rate limits, and fault tolerance — to ensure integrity, safety, and compliance
  • Drive performance and reliability by setting clear metrics (latency, throughput, availability) and designing robust resilience mechanisms
  • Establish observability frameworks including SLIs/SLOs, logging, and monitoring to maintain full system visibility
  • Govern APIs and integrations, validate test coverage, and uphold engineering quality standards across all deliverables
  • Ensure compliance with Swiss Re's standards, policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Lead code reviews and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and engineering excellence

About the Team

P&D CorSo Platforms & Credit & Surety is a dynamic and forward-thinking team tasked with the design, development, and validation of comprehensive business systems — carefully translating functional requirements into detailed technical specifications and practical architectures. By establishing clear constraints, operational guardrails, and robust production-grade assurance mechanisms, the team ensures that systems are scalable, resilient, high-performing, and fully compliant.

In close collaboration with Technical Product Owners in Brazil and across the global organisation, the team actively supports all phases of the delivery lifecycle — from system decomposition and specification through to implementation and validation — leveraging AI-assisted and agentic engineering methodologies to stay at the forefront of modern software engineering.

About You

You are a seasoned engineer with a sharp systems-level mindset, a passion for clean architecture, and the drive to lead complex distributed systems from concept to production. You thrive in collaborative, multicultural environments and are excited by the opportunity to evolve your craft through AI-assisted engineering. You bring structure, clarity, and engineering judgement to every challenge — and you inspire those around you to do the same.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • 7–10+ years of experience in software engineering or system design, with a strong track record of delivering complex, production-grade solutions
  • Proficiency with .NET, SQL Databases, and Angular, combined with hands-on experience in DevSecOps practices and tooling
  • Experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms, with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure Cloud
  • Strong background in API services, data modeling, and architecture, with the ability to define and govern system boundaries and integration contracts
  • Experience across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools and agentic engineering approaches
  • Background in financial services or insurance, bringing domain knowledge that adds immediate value
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps and cloud governance frameworks, particularly within Azure environments
  • Familiarity with Scrum/Agile methodologies and experience working in globally distributed, multicultural teams
  • Intermediate to advanced English communication skills (spoken and written), enabling effective collaboration across international teams
  • A natural ability to mentor and coach junior engineers, contributing to team growth and knowledge sharing

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
