Job Description

The Application Engineer of FACTS & HVDC services activities will support the growth of the Regions by technically supporting the commercial team in the development of new opportunities. This role requires a broad knowledge of power electronics and electrical compensation equipment, strong sales acumen, the ability to work with engineering to develop new services and to work directly regions and global customers or other channels sales to identify, qualify and secure opportunities

The Application Engineer will also be involved in the support provided to the Regions (L1 &L2) in the support of root cause analysis (RCA) development, support to ticket resolution, support in the development of procedures, trainings to increase the Region capability and autonomy.

The Application Engineer of FACTS & HVDC services activities will support the growth of the Regions by technically supporting the commercial team in the development of new opportunities. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides technical expertise and develops technical solutions involving Service FACTS/HVDC portfolio as part of the pre-ITO (requisition) process while interfacing with the commercial team.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of FACTS and HVDC markets and customer economic value that aid winning bid strategies.
  • Interfaces with Worlwide regional FACTS/ HVDC/ Factories and support regional teams as required.
  • Drafts complexes offer templates and proposal involving Service FACTS/HVDC portfolio as required.
  • Drafts complexes costing templates involving Service FACTS/HVDC portfolio as required.
  • To include 'ITO': Technical analysis of client needs: definition and optimization of the products; scope (description); schedule; industrial scheme; cost, considering contract and internal policies and procedures. Calculation of plant, system and equipment performance and efficiency. Documentation of technical specifications & costing elements for further contract execution phases.
  • Attends, when necessary, customer meetings and identifies solutions to Service FACTS/HVDC customer needs.
  • Works closely with the other functions within the Services central team to enhance processes and tools, serving as a proactive source of initiatives.
  • Lunch globally commercial campaigns on Service FACTS/HVDC new products and services.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of Service FACTS/HVDC best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

OTHER ACTIVITIES TO SUPPORT :

  • Assist Regions technical support team in the resolution of ticket raised by Customers for assistance on GEV assets.
  • Support Project Managers with regular follow-up calls to customers to resolve cases initiated through technical proposals or site interventions.
  • Oversee data quality management, including archiving, for engineering activities such as troubleshooting, back-office operations, and site data collection.
  • Support the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process, including documentation and approval responsibilities.
  • Assist Regions Project Managers with regular follow-up calls to customers to resolve cases initiated through technical proposals or site interventions.
  • Monitor process compliance and proactively drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of drafting technical procedures, process documentation, and flowcharts.
  • Submit required technical documentation to both external customers and internal teams for the Ticketing

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.

REQUIRED

  • This role requires significant experience in the Engineering/Technology & Customer Application Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a master’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
    • Possess excellent interpersonal skills when interfacing with internal and external customers
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Self-starter, ability to work remotely and achieve results with little direct supervision, good understanding of Customer need is mandatory
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
    • Proficient written, verbal, and phone skills in English
    • Deep knowledge on FACTS/HVDC portfolio: Synchronous, Condensers, Fixed Series Capacitors, Static Var Compensators and STATCOM

  • Engineering degree in Power electronics
  • Experience in the utility market, particularly with FACTS and HVDC systems and associated equipment, is a plus
  • Previous experience in related service business
  • Able to travel by car (have a valid driver’s license and ability to maintain) and/or air
  • Stress tolerance related to many deadlines to be respected
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Familiar with FACTS & HVDC Control Systems:
  • Experience in FACTS and HVDC Field Service and Commissioning Experience
