The MCAD Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support for SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM applications. The role involves installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of MCAD tools to ensure smooth operation for global engineering teams. The engineer will also work closely with software vendors and internal IT teams to resolve issues efficiently and optimize license usage. In addition to SolidWorks, the candidate will provide secondary support for other MCAD applications such as Creo, Solid Edge, and Inventor, as well as integrations with PDM/PLM systems like Windchill and Oracle Agile.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for SolidWorks CAD and SolidWorks PDM to global engineering users.
  • Troubleshoot SolidWorks/PDM-related issues including performance, data management, check-in/check-out, and workflow errors.
  • Perform installation, configuration, and upgrade of SolidWorks PDM on client workstations and servers.
  • Collaborate with software vendors and internal IT teams for timely issue resolution.
  • Monitor SolidWorks network license usage, generate utilization reports, and make recommendations for license optimization.
  • Support CAD data management best practices, PDM workflows, version control, and file integrity.
  • Assist with CAD standardization, templates, macros, and automation improvements.
  • Secondary responsibilities include providing support for additional MCAD tools such as Creo, Solid Edge, and Autodesk Inventor.
  • Support integrations between MCAD tools and PDM/PLM systems including Windchill and Oracle Agile.
  • Troubleshoot data mapping, attribute synchronization, and publish issues between CAD and PLM.
  • Assist in CAD/PLM upgrade projects, testing, validation, and documentation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for engineering systems and processes.

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience with SolidWorks CAD and SolidWorks PDM.
  • Strong knowledge of PDM administration, workflows, permissions, and data card configurations.
  • Experience troubleshooting CAD/PDM performance and user issues.
  • Good understanding of MCAD fundamentals, assemblies, drawings, and modeling practices.
  • Familiarity with additional MCAD tools (Creo, Solid Edge, Inventor).
  • Understanding of PLM systems such as Windchill or Oracle Agile.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills for working with global end users and vendors.
