Job Description

The Application Services team is seeking a motivated Application Developer Summer Intern to support the development and implementation of enterprise applications and AI-powered automation solutions. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 application development, including SharePoint, Power Apps, Power Automate, and AI Copilot agents.

The intern will work on real-world projects that enhance organizational productivity through organizing data and applying metadata properties for future low-code/no-code solutions and AI automation. This role provides valuable exposure to modern enterprise application development, business process automation, and emerging AI technologies in a professional IT environment.

The intern will report to the IT Director of Application Services and:

  • Gain practical experience organizing data, applying metadata properties, and building SharePoint sites, Power Apps, and Power Automate workflows
  • Support the deployment and testing of AI Copilot automation solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Contribute to projects that improve operational efficiency and user experience across the organization
  • Develop technical skills in cloud-based application development and AI integration

Key Responsibilities

Application Development and Support:

  • Organize and structure organizational data and apply metadata properties to support AI and automation initiatives
  • Assist in creating and customizing SharePoint sites, lists, libraries, and pages with proper metadata frameworks
  • Support the development of Power Apps solutions for business processes
  • Help design and implement Power Automate workflows to streamline operations
  • Participate in testing and debugging of SharePoint applications and automation workflows
  • Document application configurations, workflows, and technical specifications

AI Copilot and Automation:

  • Support the development and configuration of AI Copilot agents for business use cases
  • Assist in testing Copilot automation solutions and gathering user feedback
  • Help identify opportunities for AI-powered process improvements
  • Contribute to documentation and training materials for AI tools

Collaboration and Learning:

  • Work with stakeholders across departments to gather requirements and understand business needs
  • Participate in team meetings and project planning sessions
  • Conduct research on best practices for SharePoint, Power Platform, and AI implementation
  • Provide end-user support and troubleshooting assistance for application-related issues
  • Support the maintenance of metadata, term sets, and content governance standards

Administrative Support:

  • Organize project files and maintain documentation repositories
  • Assist with user training and onboarding materials

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Associate degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications (SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Outlook)
  • Basic understanding of or exposure to Power Apps and Power Automate
  • Interest in AI technologies and automation solutions, including Microsoft Copilot
  • Basic knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is helpful
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous coursework or projects involving SharePoint, Power Platform, or low-code development
  • Familiarity with Copilot Studio or AI agent development
  • Experience with Microsoft Graph API or SharePoint REST API
  • Knowledge of database concepts and SQL basics
  • Previous internship experience in IT or software development
  • Experience with Agile or project management methodologies
