THE ROLE
The Application Architect provides leadership and strategic direction for the Application Team within the Managed Services division of Nordic Global. This role requires significant expertise in supporting large-scale and critical healthcare applications and is capable of providing technical leadership for large application upgrade, migration, and consolidation projects. The Application Architect has a thorough understanding of the US healthcare system, its applicable laws and regulations, and clinical and operational workflows within all settings of care and applies this knowledge to application design and support principles.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the response to application support requests and incidents within defined SLAs, ensuring exceptional customer service and communication.
- Oversee the management of application and team documentation, ensuring its accuracy, completeness, and relevancy.
- Establish, maintain, and expand strategic relationships with software vendors to ensure the highest level of support.
- Strategically plan and execute application upgrades and security patches, ensuring alignment with application roadmaps and release schedules.
- Achieve and maintain advanced certifications, following comprehensive learning paths.
- Lead and oversee analyst-led projects, managing all aspects including leading meetings, bringing in the right individuals, taking meeting minutes, and communicating overall project status to stakeholders.
- Architect and design integrated workflows that solve clinical and business needs across a variety of applications and service areas.
- Provide mentorship to other application analysts through situational coaching and knowledge sharing to ensure a full understanding of application-specific best practices and team norms.
- Maintain relationships and collaborates with existing interdepartmental contacts to ensure effective and positive cross-departmental work.
- In conjunction with the team manager, provide general direction to the team to ensure overall goals are achieved and to ensure project work can continue in the absence of a leader or subject matter expert.
- Own the development, routine maintenance of detailed architecture documentation including system diagrams, and documentation of system dependency maps, integration, and other critical components as needed to comply with disaster recovery, security, and operational run-book requirements.
- Manage the entire application lifecycle to include implementations, upgrades, and eventual decommissioning and data archiving.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Generally requires a Bachelor's degree and 12 years of related experience or a Master's degree and 8 years of related experience. Information Technology, Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, (or 15+ years’ industry experience).
- Expert level experience in implementing and managing ITIL-aligned service management processes, including Incident, Problem, Change, Release, and Service Level Management.
- Extensive experience in application support, documentation management, and vendor relationships.
- Advanced analytical thinking, problem-solving skills.
- Extensive experience in the US healthcare IT industry, with a deep understanding of healthcare information systems, electronic health records (EHRs), and health information exchanges (HIEs).
- Deep understanding of applicable laws and regulations, and ability to ensure organizational compliance.
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex application environments and lead support for critical needs.
- Expert proficiency in clinically integrated hospital and/or physician office workflows (both clinical and business).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and lead by example.
- Superior track record of completing assignments on or ahead of schedule, demonstrating an ability to handle high-pressure situations effectively.
- Ability to navigate shifting priorities and manage time efficiently in response to changing circumstances and unexpected challenges.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
- Some roles may require participation in an on-call rotation to provide 24x7 support for critical applications, ensuring continuous and reliable service availability
