The Opportunity
The Principal Applications Analyst position is responsible for providing community-division application support for the MGB Community Division Medical Group and Community Physician Practices.
The Principal Applications Analyst leads localized design, build, testing, implementation, and ongoing support of clinical and specialty systems while partnering with cross-functional Digital and operational teams to ensure solutions meet clinical, operational, security, and regulatory requirements. A major responsibility of the position is evaluating locally deployed and legacy applications, identifying opportunities to standardize, and planning and executing migrations to strategic enterprise solutions, including data translation, interface impacts, cutover planning, and historical archiving. Applications supported may include but are not limited to Radiology/Cardiology imaging platforms (PACS/CPACS), Vocera, MUSE, Provation, RTLS, and other clinical systems. The position serves as a subject-matter authority, providing guidance to peers and stakeholders to drive reliable performance, adoption, and continuous improvement.
Responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining applications and specialty systems, such as PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems), RIS (Radiology Information Systems), and other platforms. Ensures these systems meet clinical and operational design requirements while maintaining regulatory compliance and optimal performance.
Provides guidance and direction to peers on the team or to other staff as a subject-matter authority.
Essential Functions
-Partner with vendors and stakeholders across business units (e.g., finance, security, compliance) to develop analyses and documentation collaboratively, communicating effectively with production, managerial, and executive teams.
-Develop meaningful, lasting relationships with partners to optimize system integration and to respond to questions and concerns from managers and executives, supported by research and recommendations.
-Collaborate with architects and program managers on road map planning and prioritization.
-Evaluate, analyze, and communicate systems requirements on a continuing basis, and maintain systems processes, including delivering monthly status reports to all appropriate parties.
-Author and update internal and external documentation, and formally initiate and deliver design and build specification documents to meet workflow and business requirements.
-Collaborate with architects and program managers on road map planning and prioritization.
-Communicate the status of various team efforts to leadership and stakeholders, including preparing presentations.
-Mentor and train junior team members. Delegate and prioritize work initiatives.
-Perform, evaluate, and communicate thorough quality assurance at every stage of systems design, development, and testing.
