HealthPartners is hiring an Application Analyst and Developer, Epic Beaker This role plays a key part in supporting and enhancing laboratory systems across our organization by analyzing business and technical requirements, designing solutions, and implementing application enhancements that improve workflows and support high-quality patient care.

The team supports Epic Beaker and related laboratory applications used across more than 60+ clinics and 8 hospitals. In partnership with laboratory leaders, this individual will help identify operational needs, optimize system functionality, and deliver solutions that promote efficiency, standardization, and continuous improvement.

Day-to-day responsibilities include managing service requests, performing application builds and enhancements, gathering and translating requirements, troubleshooting issues, and supporting projects that advance organizational goals.

This position reports to the Manager of Care Delivery Applications and is part of a collaborative team of analysts who support a variety of laboratory specialties.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in IT analysis and technical design. Experience in a healthcare or laboratory environment is strongly preferred, with Epic Beaker experience highly desired.
  • One (1) year of experience coding, testing, and implementing program changes.
  • Working knowledge of programming languages
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including Windows server administration.
  • Proven ability to gather requirements and deliver output on those requirements.
  • Effective communication skills in technical and non-technical vernacular
  • Proven ability to write technical documentation in a clear manner.
  • Experience participating in project teams, preferably from initiation through successful implementation and acceptance of application changes.
  • Expertise with more than one system development methodologies
  • Excellent analysis and critical thinking skills.
  • Able to be on call 24X7 in areas of expertise.
  • An overall understanding of disaster recovery and service continuity

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year of healthcare/ health plan experience is strongly preferred.
  • Epic Beaker AP Certification is strongly preferred.
  • Epic Beaker CP Certification is strongly preferred.
  • Windows Server Administration experience

Hours/Location:

  • M-F; Core business hours
  • This position offers a flexible, primarily remote work environment, with occasional onsite attendance for team meetings, collaboration sessions, and other business-related activities.
  • Participates in a rotating on-call schedule, providing occasional after-hours support approximately every 11–12 weeks based on team size.

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses builds and deploys software and new application functionality.
  • Performs unit testing and assists with system and end-user test planning and testing.
    • Coordinates system hardware and software testing with development teams to ensure transparent implementation and appropriate capacity.
  • Develops and/or assists with test scripts; may manage the testing process or advise business partners on testing components.
  • Analyzes functional and technical requirements for moderate changes or enhancements and updates system designs and specifications.
    • Performs firmware upgrades and patch management to Operating System and Application software.
  • Diagnoses system failures and corrects issues.
    • Proactively and reactively ensures and monitors Windows server reliability and continuity.
    • Resolves and documents resolution for incidents; partnering across IS&T to ensure continued availability.
    • Monitors capacity levels on servers, assessing potential issues and escalating issues.
  • Drafts technical specifications based on identified business requirements.
  • Supports third party application software; interacts with vendors regarding problems, upgrade schedules, and software installations.
    • Installs, configures, maintains, administers, and integrates smaller third-party application servers and system software and hardware within the Windows Environment.
    • Works with vendors to identify issues or needed changes within the Windows Server Environment or the residing applications.
  • Provides requested documentation and interviews with auditors and third-party requestors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
