Appellate Litigation Counsel — Seattle, WA

A well-established, full-service Seattle firm with a decades-long reputation for complex civil litigation is seeking a senior-level attorney to join its appellate practice group. This is a substantive, leadership-track role for a lawyer who wants to own appellate strategy across the life of a case — not just brief-writing at the back end.

The Role

This position functions as embedded appellate counsel, integrated with trial teams from pretrial through appeal. Responsibilities include issue preservation strategy, motion practice, jury instruction and verdict form guidance, oral argument at both trial and appellate levels, and post-decision strategy. The successful candidate will lead teams and mentor junior attorneys, not just execute assigned tasks.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active Washington State bar membership in good standing
• Appellate court clerkship experience (state or federal preferred)
• 10+ years of civil litigation experience
• Exceptional legal research and writing skills; multiple writing samples required
• Demonstrated ability to lead, delegate, and mentor

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: High $100s to low $200s plus bonus.
