Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Pulmonary Critical Care (Nocturnist)
Location: Davenport, Iowa
Schedule: Friday–Sunday | 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM
MercyOne Genesis is seeking a highly skilled and autonomous Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to join our Pulmonary Critical Care team in a dedicated nocturnist role. This position provides overnight, on-site coverage at our Davenport campus, supporting ICU patients and collaborating with pulmonologists to ensure high-quality, continuous care.
This is a key role focused on maintaining stability and continuity of care overnight, with a strong emphasis on independent clinical decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive overnight coverage for ICU patients at the Davenport campus
Perform cross-coverage and ongoing management of critically ill patients
Respond to acute changes in patient condition, including rapid responses and codes
Collaborate with on-call pulmonologists as needed while functioning with a high degree of autonomy
Perform procedures within scope of practice (e.g., central lines, arterial lines, intubations – depending on experience and privileging)
Ensure accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record
Communicate effectively with nursing staff, respiratory therapy, and multidisciplinary teams
Support continuity of care through thorough handoffs to daytime teams
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
Board certification as an NP or PA
Active or eligible for licensure in Iowa
Minimum of 1–2 years of ICU, critical care, or pulmonary experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions in a high-acuity environment
Strong procedural skills preferred
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Schedule & Lifestyle:
Three overnight shifts per week (Friday–Sunday, 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
