Job Description

The Head of Contracts, APAC, Onshore Wind will lead contract management activities across the APAC region for Onshore Wind, with responsibility for contract governance, risk management, margin protection, claims, and commercial performance across the project lifecycle.

This role is part of the Onshore Wind APAC leadership team and will contribute to regional leadership, governance and execution priorities across the APAC portfolio. The role provides strategic leadership on contractual matters for onshore wind projects in the region and acts as a key advisor to the business on complex contractual issues, dispute resolution, and commercial risk mitigation.

This role will work closely with Project Management, Legal, Finance, Procurement, Engineering, and other internal stakeholders to ensure effective contract execution and protection of business interests. It will also interface with bid and services teams as required, but those functions remain accountable for their own core responsibilities.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Drive contract management priorities of compliance, margin enhancement, and risk management across Asia.
  • Lead the regional contract management function and establish strong governance, tools, and processes for contract lifecycle management.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a regional team of contract managers and administrators on contract analysis, issue resolution, claims support, and negotiation preparation. Fostering a high-performance, collaborative, and accountable culture.
  • Provide strategic guidance on contract interpretation, execution risk, entitlement, claims, and dispute management.
  • Oversee the identification, assessment, and mitigation of contractual and commercial risks across active projects.
  • Support the drafting, review, and negotiation of contractual variations, claims, settlement positions, and recovery opportunities.
  • Lead or support the preparation of responses to major contractual issues, disputes, and commercial escalations.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of contract documents, amendments, change orders, notices, and key contract data in accordance with policy.
  • Partner with Project Management and other delivery functions to support fulfillment of contractual obligations and timely issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with bid and services teams as needed to provide contract input and risk perspective, whilst not owning bid or services processes.
  • Maintain a strong operating rhythm with internal stakeholders to monitor contract performance, risk profile, and key commercial issues.
  • Coordinate with the broader global contract management community to align regional methods, procedures, and best practices.
  • Support settlement negotiations, major insurance claims, and maintenance of bank guarantees and insurance policies where required.
  • Identify margin-enhancing variations and other commercial opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, delegation of authority, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Engineering, Commercial Management, or a related field
  • Significant experience in contract management, commercial management, legal support, or project delivery in the wind, renewable energy, construction, infrastructure, or similar sectors.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ contract management or project experience in the wind, civil, oil and gas, or construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of EPC, supply, installation, and logisitcs contracts.
  • Proven experience managing complex contractual issues, claims, and negotiations in a regional or multi-country environment.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
  • Clear ability to operate with autonomy, exercise sound judgement, and drive outcomes with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work across cultures and functions in a matrix organization.
  • Willingness and ability to travel across Asia as required.
  • Fluency in English
  • Experience supporting subcontracting engagement, contract governance, or subcontractor commercial management.
