Job Description

Role purpose:

Euroclear is expanding its footprint across the Asset & Wealth Management landscape in APAC, bringing the breadth of its global infrastructure capabilities to asset managers, wealth managers, private banks, platforms, institutional investors and the wider funds ecosystem.

The APAC Business Development Manager will be a senior individual contributor responsible for originating, developing and converting commercial opportunities across the region. The role has a primary focus on alternative and private market funds, while also supporting broader FundsPlace and funds-related business development. Reporting to the APAC Head of Business Development, the role will take ownership of complex opportunities and combine market development, consultative selling, disciplined pipeline management and cross-functional execution. The successful candidate will leverage existing Euroclear relationships as well as targeting brand new prospect relationships to build long-term opportunities across sophisticated alternative investment environments.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Alternatives business development (approximately 70%)
  • Identify, analyse and develop complex business opportunities within Alternatives Funds Distribution, aligned with Euroclear FundsPlace’s APAC growth priorities.
  • Target both fund managers and general partners seeking to improve distribution and operational reach, and distributors such as private banks, wealth managers, platforms and custodians seeking efficient access to alternative investments.
  • Act as the regional commercial subject matter expert for the FundsPlace alternatives proposition, translating client needs into clear value propositions and actionable opportunities.
  • Lead opportunities end to end, owning the client pipeline with meaningful autonomy and accountability, from lead generation and qualification through solution shaping, recommendations to senior management, proposal development, commercial negotiation and contract closure.
  • Manage long and complex B2B sales cycles involving commercial, operational, legal, technical and senior client stakeholders.
  • Develop tailored pitches, business cases and product demonstrations that address the operating model, distribution and servicing needs of different client segments.
  • Leverage warm leads, existing Euroclear relationships and the wider internal network to accelerate access to decision-makers and develop long-term consultative opportunities.
  • Actively explore new market opportunities across APAC, assess competitive dynamics, cross-border distribution models and emerging client needs, and contribute to the evolution of Euroclear’s alternatives infrastructure, proposition and go-to-market priorities.
  • Represent Euroclear at relevant alternatives and private markets forums, building market visibility, relationships and a sustainable flow of qualified leads.
  1. Broader Funds business development (approximately 30%)
  • Develop opportunities across the broader FundsPlace proposition, including fund distribution and related asset-servicing capabilities.
  • Support client coverage across asset managers, wealth managers, private banks, platforms, distributors and institutional investors.
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities across relevant Euroclear capabilities, working with account management, product and specialist teams.
  • Contribute to regional campaigns, client plans and market initiatives established by the APAC Head of Business Development.
  1. Full-cycle sales execution and pipeline management
  • Build and maintain a healthy, prioritised pipeline with clear qualification, next steps, ownership and expected commercial outcomes.
  • Apply structured, consultative sales practices and maintain accurate, timely CRM records, forecasts and management reporting.
  • Lead value-based client conversations, constructively challenge assumptions and guide stakeholders toward solutions that address measurable business needs.
  • Negotiate complex commercial terms and pricing structures in partnership with Legal, Product, Finance and other relevant functions.
  • Meet agreed activity, pipeline, conversion and revenue objectives, with an appropriate ramp-up period for complex alternatives opportunities.
  1. Client engagement and market development
  • Build trusted, long-term relationships with decision-makers and senior executives across target clients and industry stakeholders.
  • Map client organisations, buying centres, influencers and decision processes to support effective account and opportunity strategies.
  • Create relevant engagement plans for priority prospects and clients, tailored by segment, market and opportunity maturity.
  • Develop relationships with ecosystem participants, including fund administrators, consultants, law firms, industry associations and other strategic partners where relevant.
  • Provide clients with informed perspectives on market structure, operational change, distribution challenges and evolving investment infrastructure.
  • Adopt a curious and forward-looking approach, anticipating changes in client needs, market structure and technology that may shape alternative fund distribution in APAC.
  1. Cross-functional delivery
  • Work closely with the APAC Head of Business Development, the wider Sales & Relationship Management community as well as the APAC Head of Funds Product Management to execute regional priorities, coordinate coverage and maintain clear accountability for opportunities.
  • Collaborate with FundsPlace Product Management, Operations, Technology, Legal, Compliance and other Euroclear teams to shape and deliver integrated solutions.
  • Coordinate virtual deal teams, ensuring effective hand-offs, timely decisions and consistent client communication throughout the sales cycle.
  • Advocate client needs internally and provide structured feedback to support proposition development, prioritisation and service improvement.
  • Share market intelligence, reusable sales materials and lessons learned with colleagues across APAC and the wider global organisation, and support or coach junior colleagues where appropriate.

Scope of solutions:

The role will primarily represent Euroclear FundsPlace solutions for alternative and traditional funds. Where relevant to a client need, the BDM will also connect clients to the wider Euroclear proposition, including:

  • Fund distribution and related asset-servicing solutions
  • Global settlement and custody services
  • ETF issuance and post-trade services
  • Collateral management and liquidity services
  • Data, insights and regulatory reporting support
  • Market access, connectivity and network services

Experience and capabilities:

Essential

  • Significant experience in business development, sales or a senior client-facing role within financial services, with demonstrable exposure to alternative investments or private markets.
  • Strong understanding of the alternatives ecosystem, including fund managers/general partners, private banks, wealth managers, investment platforms, custodians and fund administrators.
  • Proven ability to sell complex infrastructure, fund distribution or asset-servicing solutions through long, multi-stakeholder decision cycles.
  • Track record of originating opportunities, qualifying prospects, building business cases, negotiating commercial terms and closing new business.
  • Disciplined use of CRM tools for pipeline management, forecasting and client activity reporting.
  • Strong stakeholder-management skills and the ability to adapt communication across senior executives, commercial teams, operations and technical specialists.
  • Clear, persuasive communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to influence internal and external decision-makers.
  • Structured, curious and analytical approach, sound commercial judgement, resilience and a forward-looking perspective on market and technology evolution.
  • Fluency in English and ability to travel regularly across APAC.

Desirable

  • Established network among APAC fund managers, private markets firms, private banks, wealth managers, platforms or other distributors.
  • Experience of cross-border fund distribution structures and the operational requirements associated with alternative investments.
  • Knowledge of fund distribution, custody, settlement or market infrastructure beyond alternatives.
  • Mandarin and/or Cantonese language capability.
  • Current or prior SFC Responsible Officer experience for Type 1 regulated activity.
  • Interest in market innovation, digital assets and the future development of alternative fund distribution.

Measures of success

  • Commercial performance: contribution to qualified pipeline, new mandates, new revenues and growth in alternative assets over time, alongside broader Funds opportunities and an agreed ramp-up period.
  • Execution quality: disciplined opportunity management, credible forecasting, effective negotiation and timely progression of complex sales cycles.
  • Market development: stronger Euroclear visibility, an expanded prospect network and improved access to relevant APAC decision-makers.
  • Client impact: trusted relationships, clear articulation of client value and effective conversion of client needs into deliverable solutions.
  • Collaboration: strong coordination with the APAC Head of Business Development, effective mobilisation of product, relationship and delivery teams, and constructive contribution to the geographically distributed business development team.
  • Culture and conduct: consistent contribution to Euroclear’s values, risk standards and collaborative working environment.

Role characteristics

This is a senior individual-contributor role with meaningful autonomy and accountability for complex opportunities. It requires a commercially driven professional who can combine alternatives-market credibility, relationship-building skills and disciplined execution, while contributing flexibly to the wider Funds business across APAC. The role operates within a geographically distributed and collaborative business development team and works closely with colleagues across APAC and the wider Euroclear organisation.
