Transaction Management Associate

Who You’ll Work With:

This position will report to the Director of Transaction Management but will also require close working relationships across the firm.

What You’ll Do:

Transaction Management – 90%

  • Provide day-to-day operational input on CNO and bulk loan transactions
  • Assist with loan re-underwriting, analysis, presentation, and submission process for settlement
  • Collaborate with external diligence firm partners, custodian, and sellers in order to manage the timely receipt and delivery of all third-party reports and documents
  • Responsible for various monthly activities, including MERS monitoring, custodial monitoring (including trailing document review) and custodial reconciliations, vendor invoice allocations, and other summary reporting
  • Facilitate periodic pre-closing activities, including counterparty KYC/AML approvals, trading system setups, and telephonic wire confirmations
  • Facilitate closing activities (as frequently as numerous times per day as trade closings require), including preparation of closing summaries and closing checklists, trade system bookings, wire setup, review and submission of investor data ingestion files, updating loan acquisition tracking files, and uploading loan-level purchase data to the database
  • Facility post-closing activities relating to recently acquired loans, including monthly communications to the custodian, trustee, and various loan servicers
  • Preparation of bank reconciliations for each of our separately managed accounts, to be prepared twice per month for each investor

Business Partnering – 10%

  • Make judgement-based decisions related to the operations function and assume responsibility for the impact to the business
  • Understand key areas of the residential loan investment transactions/business and anticipate potential issues; proactively communicate solutions to others within the team or management

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or related industry
  • Excellent organizational skills and drive to succeed
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong demonstrated self-motivation and high level of initiative
  • Maturity and self-confidence to simultaneously handle a variety of assignments and capable of working successfully under pressure
  • Detail-oriented and effective multi-tasking abilities
  • Ability to work harmoniously with internal/external workers/customers
  • Strong computer skills
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills
  • Effective at managing though ambiguous situations
  • Demonstrated experience successfully working in a team environment
  • Flexibility to periodically be available during non-traditional working hours either in the office and/or accessible online or via phone

Preferred:

  • Knowledge and/or direct experience with residential loan acquisition diligence review and transaction management
  • Experience working in an alternative investment fund manager, high-volume loan production office, or similar industry
  • Exposure to investments, legal documents, and structures
  • Negotiation and conflict management skills
  • Programming and/or report building experience utilizing SQL, Snowflake, Looker, Sigma, or other computer programming logic
