About the Role

The Salvation Army’s HeadFyrst program partners with six headspace sites across South‑Western and Western Sydney to deliver integrated, youth‑focused mental health and AOD support. Through strong collaboration with medical and allied health services, HeadFyrst provides personalised, coordinated care for young people aged 12–25 years

As a HeadFyrst Clinician, you will deliver evidence‑based psychological interventions within a harm‑minimisation and client‑centred framework, supporting young people with co‑occurring mental health and substance use concerns. You’ll be part of a safe, inclusive and youth‑friendly service that values trust, empowerment and long‑term recovery.

This is a permanent part‑time role (3-4 days per week, 9am–5pm) based in Liverpool, NSW, reporting to the Regional Manager. Salary is aligned with the Health Professionals and Support Services Award

How You Will Make an Impact

You will work directly with young people and their families to assess needs, develop tailored treatment plans and deliver therapeutic interventions that support lasting change. This includes:

• Conducting psychosocial and psychometric assessments, case formulation and risk assessment
• Delivering evidence‑based interventions across mental health and AOD presentations
• Building strong therapeutic relationships with young people, families and carers
• Coordinating care and referrals within multidisciplinary teams and external services
• Maintaining high‑quality clinical documentation, ethical practice and professional standards
• Actively contributing to clinical reviews, supervision, team meetings and program promotion

Your work will help young people feel understood, supported and hopeful as they navigate complex challenges.

What You Will Bring

You are a values‑driven clinician who is passionate about youth wellbeing and recovery. You will bring:

• Registration (or provisional registration) as a psychologist or eligible Allied Health professional
• Experience delivering evidence‑based, trauma‑informed care to young people
• Strong capability working with complex presentations, including AOD use, mental health, trauma and suicide risk
• Cultural sensitivity and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culturally diverse communities
• A collaborative mindset, ethical practice and commitment to ongoing professional development

Essential requirements include AHPRA registration (or pathway eligibility), a current NSW Working with Children Check, Driver’s licence, and First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
