
The ANZNN Clinical Quality Registry (CQR) Data Scientist plays a key role in strengthening the reporting and data capabilities of the Australian and New Zealand Neonatal Network (ANZNN) within the National Perinatal Epidemiology and Statistics Unit (NPESU), Centre for Big Data Research in Health, Faculty of Medicine. The role supports a collaborative network of Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) and Special Care Nurseries (SCNs) across Australia and New Zealand that aim to improve outcomes for high-risk infants receiving neonatal critical care.
Working on projects funded through the National Clinical Quality Registry Program, the Data Scientist enhances integration across ANZNN data collections, further develops and operationalises quarterly benchmarking reports for NICUs, and leads statistical analysis and reporting for a new benchmarking report for high-dependency SCNs. The role involves advanced data analysis, statistical modelling, and data management using tools such as R and SQL, while ensuring robust documentation and reporting processes.
The position collaborates closely with the ANZNN Statistician, the Special Care Working Group, and data providers to address data quality issues and support evidence-based benchmarking and quality improvement initiatives. Reporting to the ANZNN Operations & Registry Manager, the role contributes to the broader research and professional activities of NPESU and the Centre for Big Data Research in Health.
