Central York School District (CYSD) has an opportunity for a Temporary Title I Instructional Assistants to join Hayshire Elementary School. The Temporary Title I Instructional Assistant will work closely with teachers to provide targeted instructional support in small groups or one-on-one settings, focusing on reading and math interventions for students who qualify for Title I services.

Temporary Position Subject to Annual Renewal
5.5 Hours Per Day (this is a part-time position)
186 Days Per Year

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Please note: Duties and responsibilities for this position will vary depending on the grade to which the position is assigned, and if the position supports an entire classroom, a small group of students, or provides one-on-one assistance to a student.

  • Provide assistance to Title I students in developing reading and math strategies, as assigned.
  • Assist teachers and certified reading specialist in monitoring student progress.
  • Assist the teacher with maintenance of an environment and climate conductive to learning.
  • Develop materials in accordance with the directions of the reading specialist.
  • Maintain inventory of Title I materials, including the duplication of appropriate resources.
  • Help maintain Title I records.
  • Assist the Reading Specialist/Classroom Teacher in providing individual drill and practice as needed.
  • Help maintain a positive classroom climate, which fosters understanding, respect, and self-esteem.
  • Be alert for problem areas and communicate potential problems to the teacher.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the building principal.



Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Highly Qualified Status by one of the following means is required:
    • Possess an associate's degree or higher
    • Have completed two years of post-secondary study (48 college credits)
    • Demonstrate satisfactory performance on the CAPE test
    • Demonstrate satisfactory performance on the local assessment
  • Must demonstrate the ability to be organized and have good communication skills
  • Must have (or willing to obtain) current PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Criminal History Background Checks


Hourly Rate:
$14.40-$19.15
*Step placement shall be based on years of service recognized by employer.
