Position: Anticipated Leave Coverage - 1.0 High School Special Education Teacher

Building: York Community High School

Position Type: Licensed Staff

License Required:

  • Professional Educator License with LBS1 Endorsement

Tentative Dates: October 7, 2026 - November 4, 2026

Qualifications

  • An ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons and strong collaborative skills are required.
  • Strong familiarity with Professional Learning Communities and data-based decision-making is preferred.
  • Experience co-teaching is preferred.
  • Experience with case management is preferred.

Description: York Community High School is seeking a dynamic and passionate High School Special Education teacher who has experience in the co-taught classroom. York is seeking to hire a teacher who maintains a positive learning environment centered on equity, holds high academic expectations, and creates a student-centered classroom while building rapport with students, parents and staff. We are looking for exceptional candidates who will assist our school in becoming an exemplar as it relates to seeking and implementing strategies for improving student achievement and growth for all students. This person will work collaboratively in professional learning communities in the English content area and special education departments to achieve goals with a common purpose focused on student achievement.

IL Professional Educator License (PEL) with proper endorsement and registered in DuPage County.

About Elmhurst District 205 Public Schools

Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 currently serves more than 8,000 students who reside primarily in the City of Elmhurst and small portions of Oak Brook, Bensenville and Addison. Approximately 90 percent of students live in Elmhurst with the remainder living outside of the City, but within the District 205 boundaries. (District boundaries are NOT contiguous with City boundaries.) At present, District 205 maintains fourteen schools (eight elementary schools, three middle schools, York Community High School, a Transition Program and the Madison Early Childhood Education Center).
