ANNOUNCEMENT OF AN ANTICIPATED PROFESIONAL VACANCY

POSITION: General Music, Band & Choir Teacher

LOCATION: Lewis County High School

QUALIFICATIONS: Valid WV Teaching Certification in Music 9-12

  1. Experience and knowledge of fundamentals of a high school marching band
  2. Experience and knowledge of wind & percussion instruction playing techniques exclusive to marching band
  3. Knowledge of marching band auxiliary units including flag, majorette corps and color guard
  4. Experience in conducting grade level IV, V & VI concert band music
  5. Knowledge of playing techniques for instruments traditionally used in high school concert band
  6. Knowledge of voice & proper singing techniques for performance choir
  7. Work cooperatively with Robert Bland Middle School Music program, staff and administration at LCHS

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plan and oversee LCHS summer band camp
  2. March band in local, regional and state events
  3. Prepare, organize & oversee pep band for winter sport activities and graduation
  4. Prepare, organize & oversee band performances at football games
  5. Work to recruit & audition students for performance choir
  6. Plan, organize & oversee performances for choir, included but not limited to dates, venues, travel…
  7. Schedule events with school administration
  8. Be available for after-school rehearsals and performances
  9. Publicize events and communicate with all parties

SALARY: Commensurate with Certification and Experience

TERM: 220 Days

AVAILABLE: 2026-2027 school year
