Job Description

Join a global, team-orientated organization as our Antenna Measurement Engineering Intern to help us build a smarter, more connected future! This is a full time position and the internship program will be 12 weeks long.

Program Description

The program will be focused on advancing our planar near-field to far-field (NF2FF) processing and measurement workflow for antenna characterization. We already have a baseline NF2FF framework, including FFT-based processing on a regular scan grid, probe correction, and non-uniform approaches for irregular-grid data. The intern will help validate, benchmark, and extend these capabilities, with an emphasis on accuracy, repeatability, and reduced measurement time. The work will include algorithm verification using measured and simulated data, implementing gain calibration methods, and developing faster scan strategies. If time allows, the intern may explore advanced sampling and filtering techniques to further reduce scan points and mitigate environmental reflections.

Specific & Measurable Objectives:

  • Validate FFT-based planar NF2FF with probe correction
  • Validate Non-uniform algorithms for irregular grids
  • Implement and validate gain calibration
  • Enable faster measurements using continuous scanning concepts
  • Validate back-projection

Expected Results:

  • A validated planar NF2FF toolchain for both regular and irregular grids, including probe correction
  • A documented gain calibration procedure
  • A functional back-projection / aperture diagnostic module

How Results Will Be Measured:

  • Probe-corrected results match expected far-field patterns and gain within defined tolerances across test antennas and bands
  • Non-uniform results agree with FFT baseline, with quantified error vs. sampling density and irregularity
  • Measured reduction in acquisition time and total test time, with quantified performance trade-offs

Candidate Qualifications

  • Major in Electrical Engineering
  • GPA desired: 3+
  • Experience in Electromagnetics, Coding MATLAB/Python

About ETS-Lindgren

ETS-Lindgren is the leading supplier of energy management solutions for the industrial and commercial markets. Our global team of 750 professionals design and manufacture the electromagnetic and acoustic energy components and systems that make many aspects of modern life possible.

For 75 years, ETS-Lindgren has cut across industries and market sectors to create a track record of success through such innovations as:

● Systems that control unintended electromagnetic energy emissions.

● Tools that analyze and measure the performance of wireless devices before they go to market.

● Microwave chambers used to test military aircraft before they are put into operation.

● Facilities that enable physicians to obtain MRI images and perform surgery in the same room.

● Safety monitoring solutions for utility workers who are exposed to electromagnetic fields when they climb telecom and broadcast towers.

Many of today's items create, use, or are affected by electromagnetic, magnetic, or acoustic energy. To make sure things work together harmoniously in the same environment, testing has to be done according to established compliance and performance standards. ETS-Lindgren is the company that designs and manufactures the test systems that make our electronics-infused lifestyle a reality.

Since 1993, ETS-Lindgren has been part of the ESCO Technologies’ (NYSE ESE) portfolio. This worldwide partnership ensures ETS-Lindgren has robust financial backing and resources to invest in operational efficiencies, as well as long-term industry research and development.
