Job Description

Position Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to andgenerally supportsefforts relating to Amentum’sSafeUp® Program.

  • Serves as a liaison with variousAntarctica Support Contract (ASC)workcenters and agenciesand Antarctica New Zealand (AntNZ) personnelto ensureaccurateand efficient cargo/passenger operations for both day and night shifts.

  • Coordinates transportation assets, personnel support, and equipment necessary to successfully conduct Antarctic Terminal Operations (ATO)functionsat multiple airfields.

  • Maintains operational control over the Movement Control Center (MCC) cargo yards, cargo bay, airfields, andequipment

  • Provides operational direction to ATO cargo and airfield personnel, and indirect operational direction for passenger services and shuttlespersonnel.

  • Supervises Airfield Shift Supervisor, Load Planner, and Air Transportation Specialist II positions.

  • Evaluates employees' performance throughout theseason andprovidesend-of-season evaluations.

  • Responsible for training LoadPlanners andoverseeingtrainingforallothercargo personnel.

  • Responsible for thequalityassurance ofaircraftpallets,including hazardous segregationandproper restraint,aircraftload plans, and hazardous material documentation.

  • Implements standard operating procedures andassistsin thereview andrevision of operating procedures,asrequired

  • Interfaces with USAP Cargo staff,Cargo Coordinators, FixedWing personnel, andorgrantees to coordinate cargo priorities for all outgoing flights.

  • Ensuresestablished priorities for passenger and cargo movementsare adhered to for each outgoing flight.

  • Assistswith the proper handling and monitoring ofcallforwardor priority passenger/cargo requests.

  • Serves as the ATOpointofcontact (POC) for passenger and cargo issues in the absence of the Passenger ServicesSupervisor, Vehicle Operations Supervisor, MCC Supervisor and/or USAP Cargo Supervisor.

  • Helps field and troubleshoot cargo queriesregardingaircraftloading issues, cargo/passenger priorities, and any other ATO-related discrepancies that may arise.

  • Assists the MCC Supervisor with completing safety/accident/incident reports.

  • Interacts with the National Science Foundation(NSF),military personnel, and other agency officials in a professional and tactful manner.

  • Plansand conductsdaily/weekly safety meetings andmaintainsattendance and subjectmatterdocumentation.

  • Responsible for implementing andmaintaininga safe workplace program and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.

  • Performs other duties asrequired

Required Education, Experience, Certificates and Licenses:

  • Bachelor’s Degree andat leasttwo years’experiencein aviation/transportation includingmanaging staff schedules, datamanagementand resource tracking.Anadditionalfour years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.

  • AirliftMobilityCommand (AMC)Load Planner Certification must beattainedprior to deployment; trainingisprovided if current certificationis notalreadyheld

  • Aminimum of two years of supervisoryor leadershipexperience

Expected Skills and Competencies:

  • Intermediate skills working within Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook,Excel,Wordand PowerPoint)

  • Strong multi-tasking, organization, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred:

  • Previousexperience withremote sitelogistics, preferably with the USAP.

  • Knowledge of passenger and cargo movement functions, including transportaircrafttypes, capabilities, and configurations; weight and balance factors; airlift transportation directives and documentation; cargo securing techniques; and interpreting and followingaircraftload plans.Familiarity with automated data processing programs such as MAXIMO and ICODES.

Physical and/or Other Requirements

  • Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods

  • Successful completion of Medical and Dental examinations required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica

  • Successful completion of drug screening and background check required by employer

  • Successful completion of Federal Background Check required by the NSF

  • Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum as required by the position.

  • Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors in extreme cold as required by the position.

  • Mustparticipatein community programs, such as “house-mouse” (chores), “daisy-picking” (cleaning-up around the station), recycling efforts & safetyobjectives

  • Valid Driver’s License issued in the United States

  • Must be able to obtain andmaintainfacility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship isrequiredfor facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
