Job Description

The Opportunity

The ANSI Valve Shop Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day management, coordination, and performance of the valve repair facility. This role provides leadership to shop personnel and ensures the safe, efficient, and profitable execution of valve and control valve repair activities. The Foreman is accountable for planning and scheduling shop work, managing customer communications, ordering parts and materials, issuing purchase orders, and ensuring all repair and testing activities meet quality and delivery expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Shop Operations

  • Lead and supervise daily valve shop operations and personnel.
  • Coordinate workloads and resources to maximize shop productivity and efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain shop schedules to ensure customer commitments and delivery dates are achieved.
  • Prioritize incoming work and effectively manage personnel assignments.
  • Promote and enforce all safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Conduct daily shop meetings and provide ongoing coaching and guidance to technicians.
  • Support employee development, training, and performance management.

Valve & Control Valve Expertise

  • Provide technical leadership for the inspection, repair, assembly, calibration, and testing of ANSI valves and control valves.
  • Review repair scopes, inspection reports, and test documentation.
  • Support troubleshooting of valve and control valve performance issues.
  • Ensure repairs are completed in accordance with OEM specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards.
  • Assist with evaluating repair recommendations and determining required replacement parts and components.

Planning & Scheduling

  • Plan and schedule shop activities to optimize manpower, equipment utilization, and workflow.
  • Monitor project progress and adjust schedules to meet changing priorities and customer demands.
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing work with customers, vendors, and internal departments.
  • Track job status and communicate completion dates and delays proactively.

Purchasing & Inventory Management

  • Order parts, materials, and consumables required for valve repair operations.
  • Create and issue purchase orders in accordance with company procedures.
  • Manage inventory levels and maintain adequate stock of critical components.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Monitor procurement costs and delivery performance.

Customer Relations

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for customers regarding repairs, schedules, technical inquiries, and service updates.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through responsive and professional communication.
  • Respond promptly to emails, phone calls, and customer requests.
  • Participate in customer meetings, site visits, and project reviews when required.
  • Support quoting activities by providing technical and repair recommendations.

Administration & Communication

  • Maintain accurate work orders, repair reports, testing records, and shop documentation.
  • Utilize Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and ERP systems for communication and operational management.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of ANSI valves, control valves, actuators, positioners, and valve testing procedures.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced repair environment.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.
  • Customer-focused with excellent relationship management abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and professional email communication.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making abilities.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

The Candidate

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in ANSI valve and/or control valve repair and service operations.
  • Previous supervisory, lead hand, or foreman experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and scheduling shop activities in an industrial service environment.
  • Experience managing customer relationships and coordinating repair projects from receipt through delivery.
  • Experience with purchasing, inventory control, and issuing purchase orders.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of ANSI valves, control valves, actuators, positioners, and valve testing procedures.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced repair environment.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Master Flow, Fisher, Masoneilan, Valtek, Samson, Flowserve, or other major valve manufacturers.
  • Experience with valve and actuation repair, hydrotesting, valve automation, and diagnostic equipment.
