Texas A&M University–San Antonio seeks a dynamic and relationship-focused Annual Giving Officer to advance philanthropic support through a comprehensive annual giving program. This position is responsible for developing and executing multi-channel fundraising strategies that increase donor participation, philanthropic revenue, and alumni engagement. The Annual Giving Officer will lead online giving appeals, coordinate fundraising events, personally solicit annual giving prospects, and oversee the University’s AI-powered Virtual Engagement Officer to enhance donor outreach and stewardship.
The successful candidate will combine strong communication skills, fundraising expertise, data-informed decision-making, and a commitment to higher education philanthropy to build meaningful relationships with alumni, friends, faculty, staff, parents, and community supporters.
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities:
Annual Giving Strategy & Campaign Management
Develop and implement annual giving strategies designed to increase donor participation and annual fund revenue.
Plan and execute digital fundraising campaigns, including email appeals, crowdfunding initiatives, giving days, social media campaigns, text messaging, and other online engagement efforts.
Develop and manage University giving societies.
Collaborate with University Advancement staff, marketing and communications teams, and campus partners to create compelling fundraising content and donor-centered messaging.
Analyze campaign performance and donor engagement metrics to optimize fundraising outcomes and improve return on investment.
Portfolio Management & Personal Solicitation
Manage a portfolio of annual giving prospects and donors capable of making leadership annual gifts.
Conduct qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities through in-person meetings, virtual visits, phone calls, and written communications.
Develop individualized engagement and solicitation strategies to increase donor retention, renewal, and gift upgrades.
Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and strategies within the university’s constituent relationship management (CRM) system.
Meet established goals for donor visits, solicitations, donor retention, and annual fund revenue.
Fundraising Events & Donor Engagement
Plan, coordinate, and support fundraising and donor engagement events, including giving day activities, signature foundation events, donor appreciation events, and annual fund cultivation opportunities.
Collaborate with Advancement colleagues to ensure events support donor acquisition, cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising objectives.
Represent the university at campus and community events as appropriate.
AI-Powered Virtual Engagement Officer Management
Serve as the primary administrator and strategist for the university’s AIpowered Virtual Engagement Officer platform.
Develop outreach strategies and communication workflows utilizing AI technology to engage donors, alumni, and prospective supporters.
Monitor engagement metrics, conversation outcomes, and donor response rates to improve performance and effectiveness.
Ensure AI-driven communications align with university policies, donor engagement best practices, and ethical fundraising standards.
Collaborate with Advancement leadership to identify innovative applications of AI technology that enhance donor experiences and fundraising results.
Donor Stewardship & Data Management
Assist in developing donor stewardship programs that strengthen donor loyalty and long-term engagement.
Generate reports and analyze fundraising data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
Ensure compliance with university policies, industry standards, and ethical fundraising practices.
Support special projects and other Advancement initiatives as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field.
Two (2) years of related experience.
Preferred Education & Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in fundraising, advancement, nonprofit development, alumni relations, sales, marketing, customer relationship management, or a closely related field.
Demonstrated experience managing projects, campaigns, or constituent engagement initiatives.
Experience utilizing CRM systems, fundraising databases, or similar constituent management platforms.
Experience in higher education fundraising or nonprofit development.
Experience with digital fundraising, email marketing, social media campaigns, and online giving platforms.
Experience managing donor or sales portfolios and conducting personal solicitations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of philanthropy and fundraising best practices, including donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and retention.
Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with different constituencies.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Ability to analyze data and use insights to improve fundraising performance.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and donor database systems.
Ability to communicate the mission and impact of Texas A&M University–San Antonio in a compelling and donor-centered manner.
Commitment to ethical fundraising practices and donor confidentiality.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel locally as needed.
Knowledge of annual giving programs, donor engagement strategies, and fundraising best practices.
Familiarity with AI-enabled engagement tools, marketing automation platforms, or donor communication technologies.
Knowledge of fundraising performance metrics and donor analytics.
Understanding of donor stewardship and relationship management principles.
