Animal Attendant Lead (Pet Boarding)

At Kip Canberra, the Animal Attendant Lead is a key part of the leadership team and integral to the back of house operations, ensuring our high standard of care to pets is upheld. The Animal Attendant Lead is responsible for overseeing all of our pet services, serving as the subject-matter expert on pet care and leading our Animal Attendant team to deliver exceptional outcomes in pet safety, care and enrichment.
This is a permanent full time role. The ideal candidate will be available to work hours between 7am-6pm, Monday through Sunday. Availability to work across all school holiday periods (including Christmas and Easter) is required.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Contribute to and supervise the process of feeds, cleans, medications, activities, and social play
- Effectively plan and delegate tasks on a daily basis to team members
- Review run allocation of pets on a consistent basis and adjust accordingly to minimise negative dog behaviours
- Ensure our teams are delivering on the pupdates, activities and add-ons that means we provide the best service and care in market
- Daily observations of team operations and site to ensure we are delivering on our service and standards model
- Provide positive and constructive feedback of performance to team on a daily basis to build a high-performance culture
- Assist site manager with the training and development of team members
- Respond to any pet health issues with urgency
- Promptly provide pet health updates to owners in a clear, concise, and effective way in line with our processes
Experience/Skills:
- Previous animal husbandry or animal handling experience is essential.
- Experience working in a customer-facing reception or administration role is highly regarded.
- Excellent communication skills and proven experience providing exceptional customer service.
- Passion for problem solving and high attention to detail.
- Time management skills, a can-do attitude and initiative to exceed outcomes and expectations at high quality.
- Quick learner with a willingness to get your hands dirty with on-the-job experience.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a cool head under pressure.
- Competent with computer systems with advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
Key requirements:
- Must have current drivers license
- Must be available across a 7-day rotating roster, including weekends and holidays
