Job Description: Applications Development Technology Lead Analyst (Angular & Micro Frontend)
Role Overview
The Applications Development Technology Lead Analyst is a senior-level position responsible for leading the architectural design, development, and delivery of modern, enterprise-grade web applications. This role focuses on driving front-end modernization by leveraging Angular and Micro Frontend (MFE) architectures.
As a technical leader, you will establish UI engineering excellence, define monorepo and federation strategies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and independently deployable frontend systems. You will act as a key subject matter expert, mentoring engineering teams and ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture blueprints and security standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture & Micro Frontend (MFE) Leadership
- MFE Strategy & Design: Lead the design and implementation of scalable, resilient, and high-performance Micro Frontend (MFE) architectures using Webpack Module Federation or Angular Native Federation.
- Shell & Remote Coordination: Define and govern the integration patterns between the host (shell) application and remote micro-apps, ensuring seamless routing, lazy loading, and optimal runtime performance.
- Monorepo Management: Establish and maintain monorepo strategies (e.g., using Nx or Lerna) to manage shared libraries, build caching, and dependency graphs efficiently.
- Independent Deployments: Partner with DevOps teams to design CI/CD pipelines that support independent deployment of micro frontends without disrupting the host application.
- Angular Engineering Excellence
- Modern Angular Development: Drive the adoption of modern Angular features (including Standalone Components, Signals, Deferrable Views, and functional routers/guards) to build responsive, enterprise-grade UIs.
- State Management & Data Flow: Architect robust state management solutions utilizing NgRx, RxJS, or Angular Signals, ensuring clean data flow and state isolation across micro frontends.
- Reusable Design Systems: Oversee the development of reusable UI component libraries and design systems, ensuring visual and functional consistency across federated applications.
- Performance Optimization: Conduct deep-dive performance profiling (bundle size analysis, tree-shaking, change detection optimization, and lazy loading) to minimize Initial Page Load and Time to Interactive (TTI).
- Collaboration, Governance & Mentorship
- Technical Governance: Define, document, and enforce coding standards, linting rules, security practices, and testing strategies (unit, integration, and E2E) across all frontend teams.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate closely with backend engineering teams (REST/GraphQL APIs) and product managers to translate complex business requirements into robust technical specifications.
- Team Mentorship: Act as a hands-on technical lead, coaching and mentoring mid-level developers, conducting rigorous code reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Risk & Compliance: Evaluate technical risks and ensure all frontend applications comply with organizational policies, web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA), and security guidelines (OWASP, CSP, CORS).
Recommended Qualifications
Experience & Core Expertise
- Overall Experience: 10+ years of experience in professional software application development, with a strong focus on enterprise web applications.
- Angular Expertise: 5+ years of deep, hands-on experience with Angular (modern versions 15+) and TypeScript.
- Micro Frontend Experience: Proven track record of designing and deploying Micro Frontend (MFE) architectures in a production environment using Module Federation.
- Monorepo Tooling: Strong experience with monorepo management tools, specifically Nx.
- Web Standards: Mastery of HTML5, CSS3, Sass/SCSS, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
Technical & Operational Skills
- State & Reactive Programming: Advanced proficiency in RxJS and state management libraries (e.g., NgRx or Akita).
- Testing Frameworks: Experience with modern testing tools such as Jest, Cypress, or Playwright for unit and End-to-End (E2E) testing.
- Build & Bundling Tools: Solid understanding of Webpack, Esbuild, and Angular CLI configurations.
- Backend Integration: Strong experience integrating with RESTful APIs and WebSockets. Working knowledge of Python-based microservices is a strong plus.
- Agile Delivery: Experience working in mature Agile/Scrum environments, driving sprint planning, and managing technical debt.
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills in complex, distributed frontend environments.
- Proven ability to influence architectural decisions and lead development efforts across multiple distributed teams.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
- Master’s degree preferred.
