The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Management at UT Southwestern Medical Center seeks an outstanding Pediatric Physician Scientist Anesthesiologist with a strong commitment to academic medicine, clinical excellence, and impactful research. As a Clinical Scholar at UT Southwestern, the selected candidate will advance the science and practice of pediatric anesthesiology through impactful scholarly work.

This faculty position offers the opportunity to develop and lead a goal-oriented research program while providing high-quality pediatric anesthetic care at Children’s Health in Dallas. The successful candidate will contribute to a collaborative academic environment dedicated to advancing perioperative care through innovation, discovery, and education.

Position Highlights

  • Clinical responsibilities include providing comprehensive pediatric anesthesiology care at Children’s Health
  • Establish and lead an independent, externally funded research program within a nationally recognized academic medical center
  • Protected research time with institutional infrastructure support aligned with funding trajectory and academic goals
  • Engage in innovative basic, translational, clinical, or outcomes-based research advancing pediatric perioperative medicine
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary investigators across UT Southwestern’s robust research enterprise
  • Develop and submit competitive grant applications (NIH, foundation, and industry-sponsored funding)
  • Publish high-impact findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international scientific meetings
  • Lead and participate in clinical trials and translational research initiatives
  • Mentor fellows, residents, graduate students, and junior faculty in research design, methodology, and scholarly productivity
  • Contribute to the academic mission through scholarly leadership and national visibility
