Job Description
Responsible for the operations and maintenance of the Anesthesia equipment and supplies.
Job Responsibility
1. Demonstrates knowledge of the equipment in the department, how to operate and troubleshoot and mechanism for initiating repairs.
2.Checks monitoring equipment daily and assists with preparation of such equipment (including change of anesthesia circuit) according to established procedures to ensure optimum patient safety and care. Notifies the Bio-Medical Specialist of any equipment needing repairs to ensure patient safety.
3.Takes appropriate action for the malfunctioning equipment and used resources if unable to troubleshoot problem.
4.Attaches ECG cable to patient after patient is put on O.R table.
5.Works collaboratively as a team member when providing patient care to promote positive patient outcomes.
6.Coordinates activities occurring outside of the unit and accompanies anesthesiologist and/or surgeon, as appropriate.
7.Sets up all pressure transducers and assures proper calibration of the transducers and pressure module, as needed.
8.Responds to emergency situations in the O.R and sets up appropriate emergency equipment.
9.Maintains and organizes the anesthesia environment, equipment and supplies to facilitate operation of the department 10.Inventories and maintains supply stock, collaborates and liaises with purchasing, as necessary
11.Maintains quality control and logs. Maintains records of maintenance of equipment as directed.
12.Follows protocol for all safety and Infection Control practice and monitors the environment and equipment to ensure cleaning standards are maintained.
13.Prepares and assembles equipment necessary for arterial, central venous, and pulmonary artery pressure monitoring as requested.
14.Follows procedure for decontamination of all instruments used during the procedure. Adheres to safety and Infection Control policies: demonstrates knowledge and skills in waste disposal and standard precautions and monitors the environment and equipment to ensure cleaning standards are maintained.
14.Prepares and assembles equipment necessary for arterial, central venous, and pulmonary artery pressure monitoring as requested.
16.Follows procedure for decontamination of all instruments used during the procedure. Adheres to safety and Infection Control policies: demonstrates knowledge and skills in waste disposal and standard precautions and monitors the environment and equipment to ensure cleaning standards are maintained.
17.Ensures that anesthesia machines and carts are clear and well stocked.
18.Cleans surfaces of anesthesia machines when Operating Rooms are finished for the day.
19.Collects and restocks anesthesia supply carts so that Operating Room is always ready for use.
20.Performs related duties, as required.
21.Prepares the operating room suites by making arterial lines, pulmonary artery lines and central venous pressure lines.
22.Prepares the monitor brick with EKG and pressure cables. Sets up the OR room for arterial and hemodynamic monitoring.
23.Set up EKG cables and SPO2 monitors. Places SPO2 and cerebral monitor and EKG leads on patient.
24.Prepares and opens anesthesia supplies for arterial line, intubation, and Swan Ganz catheter.25. Sets up Transesophageal Endocardiography (TEE) machine and probes. 26.Performs post surgical duties to include ensuring the oxygen tank and Ambu bag are available for transporting patient to OHRR and RR. 27. Cleans equipment to include TEE probe and sets up operating room for the next case. 28.Responsible for maintenance and documentation of the TD100 TEE probe disinfector.
Job Qualification
•High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
•Successful completion of site training program, required.
•Prior experience working in a hospital environment, preferred
•Ability to communicate effectively and work under pressure, required
•Ability to be well organized.
